GIFTS – PART NINETY-NINE
ARMOR OF GOD – PART FORTY-ONE
MORE ON ORIGINAL INTENT

Shields up, swords out, be sober and vigilant for you are under attack, I am under attack, indeed the whole of the Church is under attack. The attack is vicious and to the full extent that God will allow. If it were not for God and His mercy, they (the devil, the demons, and the people he controls) would have wiped out the human race, and all life on the earth. Last of all he would even kill those loyal to him. Our spiritual enemies attack our minds directly with ideas, through others including Church folks, and circumstances. Greetings dear saints and welcome back to this study of “Gifts” from God, currently focused on “The Armor of God” and the foundation thereof. Before we launch into our Scripture and the meat of this study, please take a moment and share these teachings as widely as possible. Thank you for sharing. Let’s go ahead and continue reading aloud our primary Bible text. I am continuing with God original intent concerning the relationship between husband and wife (men and women in general).
Ephesians 5:29-33 (KJV)
29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
The phrase “For this cause” in verse thirty-one can also be translated “in like manner”. Jesus the second person of the co-equal Triune God left Heaven to betroth a bride (you and me – the Church). He paid made the proposal to us all, paid the dowry, and is now in Heaven preparing a place in the Fathers’ house for each and every one of us. He will soon come for His bride and take us away to the Fathers’ House where we will be present with Him forever. Just as the Head of the Church and the Church One and are to function as one so should the husband and wife. I think all of us can stay out of the ditch in this matter if we will keep in mind that this natural union of the man and woman in marriage is seen in the supernatural union of Christ and the Church. As we examine verse thirty-three of our text, we see the admonition for the husband to love (agape) his wife and the wife is to “reverence” the husband. This word “reverence” is better translated as ‘highly value’. Of course, the husband is to highly value the wife, we are to honor all people and highly value them for Christ did in the shedding of His precious Blood.
Last Friday we had entered into a discussion that in the beginning, Gods’ original intent, Adam needed a help-meet. We also discovered that not only was Eve (the woman) a help meet to Adam but Adam to Eve. This is as it is to be for every husband and wife since and so long as natural marriages exist. Now, let’s take a look at this God idea of a help meet.
Genesis 2:18 (KJV)
18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
And so, God made a help meet for Adam. First, just what is a help meet? According to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary a help meet is one who surrounds, protects, aids, helps, and succours. To succour is to help in difficult situations and assist in time of difficulty. Jesus is a help meet for us so we see that it is not just the wife who is a help meet to the husband but the husband to the wife.
Hebrews 2:17-18 (KJV)
17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
Lord willing, next Friday I will move ahead into the sixth chapter of Ephesians.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as your Bible Teacher and a Prophetic Voice in your life I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, doubt it not, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
