ARMOR OF GOD – PART FORTY-TWO
Greetings to all of the friends and partners of Eastern Gate Ministries International, Inc. and followers of The Three Minute Word blog. God bless each and everyone of you in Jesus’ name. Welcome back to this study of “Gifts”, gifts from God, currently focused on The Armor of God. Please take a moment to share these teachings as widely as possible to get the good news into the hands of as many as will receive, believe, doubt not, and implement in their lives. The Holy Spirit I believe has led me to build a firm foundation upon which to learn about the armor of God. For maximal benefit from anything it is important to know as much as possible about the thing. People shout about the armor and all the while the enemy is pummeling them. Where is the disconnect? Hopefully as we proceed forward and reflect on what we have already covered each of us will see the openings in our armor and close them.
Today we are entering the sixth chapter of Ephesians, the chapter in which the armor is listed. We have discussed many things that are crucial to the optimal and maximal operation of the armor of God but as you realize are also essential in every aspect of our daily Christian walk. The Kingdom of God has a very distinct culture entirely different from the world, the kingdom of darkness. If you have not noticed this something is very wrong. Just as we changed our mind and accepted Christ as Savior so must we change our mind, renew our mind, to the thoughts, words, and ways of God.
Romans 12:2 (KJV)
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
The first phrase to “be not conformed to this world” is not a holy suggestion or give it your best try, it is a do it, it is a command, period. We are to separate from how the world thinks, how the world talks, and how the world acts. This will not happen automatically but will require our focused involvement. Thinking, talking, and acting like the world will never bring us to a place where we know the “good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God”. It will however continue us in the will of the god of this world, Satan. Now, let’s take a look at our primary Bible text for this week.
Ephesians 6:1-4 (KJV)
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Did you read it aloud, yes, out loud? Never ever forget that faith comes by hearing, hearing by the Word of God! The more we hear the Word (Rhema), the Word of God the more we will understand, have revelation (an uncovering of what was previously a mystery) of the Word of God. Hebrews 11:6 tells us it is impossible to please God without faith. As we look and meditate on the text above know that verse one and verse two are addressing two somewhat separate groups of people. Verse one is primarily talking to children, those who are dependent upon their parents and are living at home. This also has application for those new to the Kingdom of God of any chronological physical age. We covered this in our discussions about submission to the elders, our Church leaders. Being obedient to and honoring a person are quite different. A son or daughter can honor (highly value and treat as having great value) a parent but not obey them. Take a look at verse one in the Complete Jewish Bible.
Ephesians 6:1 (CJB)
1 Children, what you should do in union with the Lord is obey your parents, for this is right.
Both parent and child have the same Lord. As I end for today let’s see Jesus obeying His parents.
Luke 2:48-52 (KJV)
48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.
49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?
50 And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.
51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
