ARMOR OF GOD – PART FORTY-FOUR
Greetings to all of the friends and partners of Eastern Gate Ministries International, Inc. and followers of The Three Minute Word blog. God bless each and every one of you in Jesus’ name. Welcome back to this study of “Gifts”, gifts from God, currently focused on The Armor of God. Please take a moment to share these teachings as widely as possible to get the good news into the hands of as many as will receive, believe, doubt it not, and implement the Truth in their lives. Thank you for sharing. The Holy Spirit, I believe has led me to build a firm foundation upon which to learn about the armor of God. For maximal benefit from anything it is important to know as much as possible about the thing. People shout about the armor and all the while the enemy is pummeling them. Where is the disconnect? Hopefully as we progressed through this material and now proceed forward, we can reflect on what we have covered and see the openings (the disconnect) in our armor and close them.
Understand God will not make you do anything and the devils cannot make you do anything. God enters our lives by invitation only and the devils can enter only by our invitation. We chose to allow the Blessing or the curse into our lives. The devil(s) are defeated, and we are redeemed from the curse but we must enforce the victory and resist the curse moment to moment some days. That invitation, or allowing, is commonly due to ignorance, the practice of the traditions of men, and the doctrines of demons. There is a certain Grace extended when we are young in the Lord and being diligent to move forward (erase ignorance). However, if we are slothful, we are on our own and wide open to the enemies of our soul. Before I move forward let me give us all something to chew on. There is a huge gap between knowing the Word of God and receiving, believing, doubting not, and walking in the manifestations of the Word of God. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text for today as we continue to firm up our foundation for the discussion of and implementation of the Armor of God. You are reading aloud, are you not?
Ephesians 6:4-7 (KJV)
4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
5 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
The last two weeks we have discussed the importance of children obeying natural parents but also acknowledge this is equally applicable to our spiritual parents in the Lord and our Heavenly Father. The difference between our natural parents, spiritual parents, and God the Father, is that we are to obey and honor God the Father forever. Our natural parents are to be honored forever but obeyed as we are becoming mature and independent. Our text goes on to admonish natural fathers to not provoke their children. Let’s look at this in the New Jerusalem Bible.
Ephesians 6:4 (NJB)
4 And parents, never drive your children to resentment but bring them up with correction and advice inspired by the Lord.
The way our Lord, our Heavenly Father, corrects us is by instruction, teaching. I am not saying that for natural fathers and children a spanking is not in order occasionally (Proverbs 13:24, 23:13-14) but on the whole instruction is to rule the day. The upside (benefit) of obedience is generally far greater than disobedience. Disobedience to natural parents, spiritual parents is disobedience to God the Father. This is sin by the way and invites stealing, killing, and destroying into our lives. Not honoring our natural parents and spiritual elders is not honoring God which is sin lines us right up for stealing, killing, and destroying by the enemy. Not honoring God (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit) is just a very bad idea.
1 Samuel 2:30 (KJV)
30 Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

1 Samuel 2:30 (CJB)
30 “Therefore Adonai the God of Isra’el says, ‘I did indeed say that your family and your father’s family would walk in my presence forever.’ But now Adonai says, ‘Forget it! I respect those who respect me, but those who despise me will meet with contempt.
Let us continually humble ourselves not just before God, but before our natural and spiritual parents.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
