GODLINESS – UNGODLINESS

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this wonderful Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. What a wonderful Book, but of course they all are! God is so good to us, to illuminate our path. This is His good path! We are a rebellious people like our first father the devil. We are born with a fallen and rebellious spirit and a flesh concerned about self. Any of you who had had children know that rebellion is innate in the child. They are way better at learning the word “no” than “yes”. What about you and me? Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. The featured picture today is of a school building. This is to remind us to pray for our education system. I hope that we all know that the educational system is rotten from bottom to top. Education of our children is primarily the responsibility of the parents and not just in Godly matters. However, with an increasing focus on materialism by one’s own hand came the broken families and families with both mom and dad working outside the home. With this came a decline in all things concerning our society. Meditate the following Scripture.
Ephesians 6:1-4 (KJV)
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Teaching children to obey and honor God is the first order of business. They must be taught to know God. It is not someone else’s primary responsibility, it is ours. Then they must (God expects) learn to obey (as children) and honor (lifetime) their parents. Perhaps like some of you I was a heathen when our children were little and now I must depend upon the mercy and the Grace of God to make up for my shortcomings. There is very good news dear ones. God remains very interested in our children no matter their age and we have wonderful promises that are sure even when we fell short. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah.
Isaiah 42:21-25 (KJV)
21 The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness’ sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.
22 But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.
23 Who among you will give ear to this? who will hearken and hear for the time to come?
24 Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the LORD, he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient unto his law.
25 Therefore he hath poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.
The Lord is talking to His people, not the devil’s people and making it clear that their situation is due to their own sin, rebellion towards Him, all the while out of one side of the mouth proclaiming Him as Lord. Do we do this? Have we done this? When we rebel against God, perhaps in sincerity believing we are doing right, it opens the door, we give permission for the enemy to enter our lives not just threaten us. Anything short of this would be injustice. God will not allow or bring judgment/justice to one and not another. That is what is called injustice. On the other hand, if we repent, we can close the door and kick the devils out if they are in so some extent. Consider the following.
2 Peter 2:4-6 (KJV)
4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
Dear ones let us forsake all ungodliness and encourage other in love to do the same. The Word of God is our guide. Doing the Word of God brings only the blessing, not doing the Word of God brings only the curse. What have we chosen?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
