GOOD THINGS HAVE COME – PART FIVE
Friday – January 19, 2018

O so long ago, El Paso about 1980. I could run two miles in sixteen minutes and weighed way less than now. I would like to run two miles but then there is laziness. I would like to lose the weight but then there is food. Between you and me I may lose some weight, the running, not so much. I wonder if we do not have a similar ambivalence about the Scripture and our part in it? Doing the right thing is not always easy especially in the beginning because we are so used to, or trained to, do the wrong things. Well, let’s get back to our primary Bible Study text from the wonderful Book of Hebrews.
Hebrews 9:11-14 (KJV)
11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
We have a Covenant, a Blood Covenant, sealed with the Blood of the Lamb of God. That Lamb stands at the Mercy Seat which is on the Ark of the Covenant and within is our Covenant guaranteed by that certifying Blood. Whatever is in that Covenant that we lay claim to Jesus certifies to the Father that we are theirs and it is ours. We have redemption from sin, the curse, death, and Hell. The ministry that Jesus exercised in the earth is to be common among us and may vary in focus but must be recognizably the same ministry, the same fruit. Before I dive into Luke chapter four, consider the following verse.
Deuteronomy 28:10 (KJV)
10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.
Can this be said of you and me, if so is it for the right reason, the same as Jesus, if not why not? Now Luke four.
Luke 4:14-19 (KJV)
14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.
15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
When Jesus stood up to read He did not finish the following verse for it was not yet legal however since Calvary it is in season.
Isaiah 61:2 (KJV)
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
Are we confident declaring as Jesus did that day that the Spirit of God is upon us? If we are saved and filled with the Holy Spirit the Spirit of God is not only in us but upon us for the service of the ministry. Are we comfortable and confident that we are anointed? He is the Anointed One, we are Anointed ones. The same Anointing upon Him accomplishing all the Father’s will is upon us. If the Anointing could raise the dead and restore maimed persons in Jesus’ ministry, He can and will do the same today in our ministry. Jesus preached the gospel everywhere He went, He preached this Isaiah sixty-one passage but to an even greater extent the Kingdom of God. He preached that the Kingdom of God was at hand, well brother and sister the Kingdom of God has come. To live successfully in any Kingdom, business, or family you must know and abide by their policies and procedures. The Holy Bible is our ‘Policy and Procedure Manual’ and the Holy Spirit guides us in our study and implementation.
Jesus was not called, and we are not called to preach good news exclusively to physically financially poor people. Anyone outside of the Kingdom of God is considered poor, indeed a pauper. A person without Jesus is spiritually poor. We are after the spiritually poor. In the Kingdom of God, we are made spiritually rich and have a birthright and a mandate to be physically rich. We are mandated, commanded to heal the brokenhearted, Jesus has restored made all things whole again. This word ‘brokenhearted’ can also be translated as bruised and Jesus was bruised to make us whole in every way.
Eighteen is the Bible number for bondage and everything in this verse has to do with bondage, Jesus came that we can be free, the Truth makes us free. Jesus preached deliverance to the captive, that is those held in prison by Satan, we are to show them the way of freedom and His name is Jesus. Recovery of sight in this passage has to do with spiritual sight. Spiritual sight leads to physical sight, the spiritual realm dominates and gives rise to all things in the physical realm. Those that are being crushed by the world, Satan, are made free by the gospel. Jesus preached and we preach that this is the day of salvation. This brings us to the “day of vengeance” which was not yet legal for Jesus. Man had given his authority and power away, but Jesus got it back, and now it is legal and expected that we take vengeance upon Satan. Jesus got back our authority and the Blessing with His Precious Blood. Just as Jesus destroyed the works of the devil so are we in our day in our time as led of the Spirit of God to destroy the works of Satan bringing people into His marvelous light. No one in the Kingdom should mourn anymore, Jesus has carried our griefs and sorrow, it is an insult to Him for us to try to carry what He has carried and destroyed, and we are to keep destroyed. Each one of us needs to determine within ourselves to step up to the place where in love, faith, and leadership of the Spirit we cannot fail but conqueror in the name of Jesus.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
