GOOD THINGS HAVE COME – PART FOUR
Thursday – January 18, 2018

Perhaps you are tired of this picture, I use it quite often. This picture is one of my favorite pictures and since I am the one writing and designing the teaching, I get to pick the picture. If any of you have beautiful scenes you would like to send to me for use in The Three Minute Word, please feel free to do so. Just as this picture is comforting to me we all have scenes in our lives that are similar. Far more importantly, we have Scriptures that the Lord has highlighted in our lives and we return to them over and over for they strengthen us and bring a certainty. If you do not have that list of Scriptures, start assembling them and have them near and in your thinking each morning as you come before the Lord. Come to Him to repent (if needed), to give Him thanksgiving, to praise Him (declare who He is in your life), and to determine to be submitted in all things today, tomorrow and forever (worship). Confess (declare) these wonderful promises before the Lord, determine from Him our part, then we must be careful to do our part. We will always have a part. Now, let us look at our primary text for this wonderful Bible Study from the Book of Hebrews.
Hebrews 9:11-14 (KJV)
11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
By the leadership of the Holy Spirit I have been putting forward that the restoration of man has been paid for. Jesus is the guarantor of that restoration standing forever as our High Priest in the presence of the Father. Jesus, our High Priest, is not in an earthly Tabernacle or Temple but the Tabernacle not made with human hands but the Hand of God in Heaven. As a part of the restoration Jesus secured, we, the children of the Most High, are again a Tabernacle for the presence of God. We have this precious Holy Spirit in a vessel of clay who at the moment of salvation quickens or makes alive our previously dead spirit. Our original tabernacle for God (Adam and Eve) was also not made by human hand but the Hand of God. Consider this aside for a moment. New human bodies and spirits (children) come by human (whole man) effort. We are creative beings in the image and likeness of God. With the fertilization of the human egg with sperm not only is there the creation of a new physical body but there is the creation of a new soul. Concerning the soul which is mind and spirit, the soul of the child is a joining of the soul from the father and mother just as the physical body. Now back to our becoming the tabernacle for the Lord at salvation. First comes a change of mind which we call repentance and then the Spirit of God causes a transformation of our spirit man. Even though things may not look a whole lot different immediately after salvation there has been a sea shift. The Scripture tells us “all things are become new”. All is a pretty large and comprehensive shift.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Of course, there is much to say about this preceding verse but suffice to say we are instantly in Christ (Jesus and the Holy Spirit), we are a brand new, never existed before creation, everything concerned with our old life is gone (does not belong to us) and we have a whole new deal from God. Unfortunately, we cling desperately to the old life, wondering why we are perishing (not going to hell but defeated on every side) trying to Christianize an evil system. Let us turn our gaze back to Jesus, the One who wants us to look and act just like Him doing the things He did and the greater things. When people see us, they need to see a facsimile of Jesus, they need to see the Father. Listen to Jesus when He came out of the wilderness of testing for forty days (forty is the number of testing).
Luke 4:14-19 (KJV)
14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.
15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
The word ‘power’ in the fourteenth verse is miracle working power, it was not His power, but the power of the Spirit and the same is true for us. That power attracted people in droves. They came to hear the good news of the Kingdom of God and to be made whole, restored according to the Kingdom good news. Whatever Jesus said about Himself and His ministry everyone of us can say about ourselves and our ministry. We will return to this point tomorrow Lord willing.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
