HEAR BUT UNDERSTAND NOT

Greetings precious saints of the only Living God! Welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog focused on the Book of Isaiah. Let’s each of us determine right now that we have ears to hear, we are listening to understand and to do. Please take a moment before we move forward to share these teachings as widely as possible. The beautiful Maine fall picture today is provided by our good friend and man of God, Joe Getchell Jr. The last two weeks I have been discussing the following passage before delving into the Isaiah study.
2 Corinthians 5:17-20 (KJV)
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
We established that a new creature is indeed a new son in the Kingdom of God. Jesus the first and by far the preeminent Son and each of us are sons in our order in our time. I also laid the foundation for substituting the word ‘word’ in place of ‘things’ in the 17th and 18th verses. Our thoughts give rise to words and our words spoken in faith, whether good or bad, determine the course of our lives. This is a Truth that must be very real in each of us. We are not in some game of chance and some draw good cards and others bad cards and everything in between. Our God has dealt us nothing but good cards so to speak. Everything we will ever need has already been provided for us to walk in victory every day. We all have the ministry of reconciliation which is to invite, encourage people back to union with God. Finally, we are ambassadors for Christ. Ambassadors are those sent out by one government into another country, to another government. In this case we are ambassadors for Heaven, the Kingdom of God sent into the kingdoms of this world. Ambassadors are to speak only what the sending government says, they don’t make it up as they go. Additionally, an ambassador is the highest ranking official of the sending government in the foreign land or territory. In our case we have a ranking higher than the holy angles and the Holy Spirit. Now let’s turn our attention to the Book of Isaiah continuing to read aloud, yes, out loud.
Isaiah 6:8-10 (KJV)
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.
10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
This is a difficult passage to understand for it looks like the Lord is causing His own people to perish. We know that is wrong for that would violate much Scripture and the very character of God. The course of each and every person walking the earth and who has ever walked the earth was determined by their choices. All are freewill creatures, have been given opportunity to serve God or not. We by our choices activate certain spiritual and natural laws. When we hear but do not listen to understand and implement, a hardening of heart (mind/spirit) to that Truth occurs. Finally, we get to a point where we hear but we don’t hear. If we would choose to hear, our choice, we would be converted to the Truth and that open door to the enemy would be healed. Now, let’s turn our attention to the remainder of this sixth chapter which Jesus quotes and discusses in the gospel of John. We will pick up with that tomorrow.
Isaiah 6:11-13 (KJV)
11 Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,
12 And the LORD have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land.
13 But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof.
As we can see, the one sent, is to preach until the land is in a complete shambles. But even then, even though God’s people have repeatedly rejected the Truth, He always has a remnant (a tenth) that rises up. Think this much like the cycles of the Judges of Israel or even the kings of Israel. There are cycles of righteousness and unrighteousness. There is a time when another way, our way, seems better than God’s way but the end thereof is destruction and death and not the abundance and life of God’s way. When we go our way, we may think it is all our own idea but it is not, it is of darkness. There is no neutral ground, we are either on God’s path or the devil’s path.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. We will look at the Scripture in the Gospel of John when Jesus quotes this passage.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
