HEAVY EARS

Greetings precious saints of the only Living God! Welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog focused on the Book of Isaiah. Let’s each of us determine right now that we have ears to hear, we are listening to understand and to do. Please take a moment before we move forward to share these teachings as widely as possible. The beautiful Maine fall picture today is provided by our good friend and man of God, Joe Getchell Jr. Fall is a wonderful time of year in Maine, the weather and the beauty of the foliage. Now, let’s turn our attention to our text in the wonderful Book of Isaiah and see this passage played out in the Ministry of Jesus. Please continue reading aloud, yes, out loud.
Isaiah 6:9-10 (KJV)
9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.
10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
This is not something the Lord did to this or any other people including those we are about to discuss in the time of Jesus. We are freewill beings, God’s idea. God will allow us to darken our hearts (harden and be stiff-necked) entering into destruction. Remember, in the following passage the Lord is speaking to those who profess Him as Lord.
Matthew 6:22-23 (KJV)
22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
Who chose the light or the darkness in this passage? The individual, not God, not the devil, not someone else. Now, let’s turn to chapter twelve of the Book of John. It is just a few days until Jesus is to go to the Cross and Jesus is in Bethany. It appears that He is at the house of Lazarus, Martha, and Mary. Mary anoints Jesus with a very expense ointment which agitates the disciples especially Judas. The next day, five days before the Cross, Jesus enters Jerusalem on a colt in what is commonly called the Triumphant entry. The sacrificial lamb for Passover is selected five days before Passover and is inspected by those causing the sacrifice until the Eve of Passover. Jesus then begins to talk to the disciples about His pending sacrifice and the outcome.
John 12:24 (KJV)
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
Jesus is that corn of wheat cast into the earth and He has for sure brought forth much fruit. Let’s move forward some more.
John 12:31-36 (KJV)
31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.
34 The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?
35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
I hope you can see that the Jews are one step at a time hardening their own hearts, casting aside Jesus’ words.
John 12:37-41 (KJV)
37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:
38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,
40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.
They brought themselves to a point where they could not believe. They believed a lie and not the Truth. In the following passage notice that we are judged according to the words of our own mouths.
John 12:44-48 (KJV)
44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.
45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.
46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
To believe, or not to believe, is an individual choice, that choice is not made by God, the devils, or other people, but we ourselves.
Lord willing, I will pick up with chapter seven of Isaiah tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as your Bible Teacher and a Prophetic Voice in your life I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, doubt it not, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
