I SEEK FOR GOD

Greetings dear and precious sons and daughters of the Heavenly Father, brothers and sisters with Christ Jesus, inhabited by and empowered by our Helper the Holy Spirit. Welcome back to this exciting and empowering Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. The beautiful featured picture today was provided by our good friend and man of God, Joe Getchell Jr. Thank you, Joe. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text from the Book of Isaiah and continue reading out loud. Remember, faith comes by hearing, not seeing or thinking, but hearing. Hearing what? The Word of God. This is not just hearing a sound or a casual gathering of information, but a listening to understand and do.
Isaiah 26:7-11 (TLB)
7 But for good men the path is not uphill and rough! God does not give them a rough and treacherous path, but smooths the road before them.
8 O Lord, we love to do your will! Our hearts’ desire is to glorify your name.
9 All night long I search for you; earnestly I seek for God; for only when you come in judgment on the earth to punish it will people turn away from wickedness and do what is right.
10 Your kindness to the wicked doesn’t make them good; they keep on doing wrong and take no notice of your majesty.
11 They do not listen when you threaten; they will not look to see your upraised fist. Show them how much you love your people. Perhaps then they will be ashamed! Yes, let them be burned up by the fire reserved for your enemies.
Now, let’s turn our attention to the ninth verse and we see this theme continuing of a laser focus on the Lord. Let’s take a look at the ninth verse in the King James Version.
Isaiah 26:9 (KJV)
9 With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.
The word “judgments” in this verse not only has to do with God finding something as wrong (violating God’s law, sin, evil, wicked) but then the passing of the punishment. The way out of this mess is to know the will of God and when we don’t and recognize it, repent immediately. Repentance eliminates the punishment of God, even Gods’ memory of the sin. Are our waking thoughts upon the Lord or elsewhere? When we awake in the morning are we eager to get into our prayer closet or do other things predominate our thoughts and desires? Are we continually asking ourselves if our thoughts, our words, our ways are lining up with the Word of God? Are we alert to His plan for us not just in general but for today? Remember, we are Kingdom of God kids and our priority is the Kingdom of God and His way of doing, of being right. This is eternal, all else is burned as hay, wood, and stubble.
1 Corinthians 3:11-13 (TLB)
11 And no one can ever lay any other real foundation than that one we already have—Jesus Christ.
12 But there are various kinds of materials that can be used to build on that foundation. Some use gold and silver and jewels; and some build with sticks and hay or even straw!
13 There is going to come a time of testing at Christ’s Judgment Day to see what kind of material each builder has used. Everyone’s work will be put through the fire so that all can see whether or not it keeps its value, and what was really accomplished. (Bold added)
You will remember that much of this Bible Book has to do with what Gods’ people have done wrong, and what His judgment is concerning the wrong with the lack of repentance. From the committing of the sin, to the warning about the sin and its consequences, and even the pronouncing of the punishment or consequences of the sin, repentance turns it all away. Tomorrow we will take a brief look at the case of Hezekiah in this regard.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
