THE THREE MINUTE WORD
Monday – August 7, 2023, Av 20, 5783
Greetings dear and precious saints of God, my brothers and sisters in the faith, this common salvation. Welcome back to this enlightening study of the wonderful Bible Book of Isaiah. The study is not enlightening because of me, but because of Him, the Teacher. Please take a moment and share this teaching by every means available to you. The sharing is very important. Thank you for sharing. The featured picture today is of the seven pillars of society. Sometimes they are referred to as the seven mountain or the seven gates. They are the structure of society here and in Heaven. This is presented to remind us to pray for each and every pillar, the people in the pillar, and the rise of righteousness in each pillar.
Proverbs 9:1 (KJV)
1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
Look at how The Passion Translation treats this verse.
Proverbs 9:1 (PassionNTPsa)
1 Wisdom has built herself a palace upon seven pillars to keep it secure.
These pillars are essential to a nation, a state, a community, and to a household. These are ordained by Wisdom! Who is Wisdom?
Proverbs 4:7 (KJV)
7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
The word “principal” here means main, primary key, foremost, basic, fundamental, and most important. What is more important than being in Christ Jesus?
1 Corinthians 1:30 (KJV)
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah. Continue (not start) to read out loud.
Isaiah 44:1-5 (KJV)
1 Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:
2 Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.
3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:
4 And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses.
5 One shall say, I am the LORD’S; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and surname himself by the name of Israel.
The Lord through the Prophet Isaiah is speaking to His people and commanding them to hear. First, He addresses Jacob and then Israel. These are the same person, Jacob is the supplanter (heel catcher), the deceiver, and Israel is one who is to rule as God. You see the original intent of God shining through even in this first verse. Adam and all to follow were to rule as God in the earth. Guess who else is to rule as God in the earth? The Church! As we have studied, the descendants of Jacob/Israel have alternated between these roles, Jacob in sin, Israel in righteousness, obedience, submission to God. In spite of this, knowing this in advance, God chose this man and this people through which to bring the Messiah and subsequently the Church, a hope for all peoples.
In the second verse we see an interesting use of words by the Lord through the Prophet Isaiah. Those are the use of the words Jacob and Jesurun which refer to the same person. I already talked about the name Jacob above now let’s take a look at Jesurun. This name is transliterated from the Hebrew to English as yešurûn which is a proper noun designating Jeshurun, Israel, and meaning “the upright one.” It is found in poetry in the Song of Moses (Deut. 32:15), the blessings of Moses (Deut. 33:5, 26), and the prophecy of Isaiah (Isa. 44:2). Hence, it is often termed the “poetic” name of Israel. It is clearly parallel with Jacob in Isaiah’s prophecy. It seems to be used as an ideal designation of Israel according to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – Old Testament. In the end they will fulfil this prophecy.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
