MORE FEAR, LOVE, MOSES, AND EGYPT
Wednesday – May 16, 2018, Sivan 2, 5778

The featured pictures this week were taken last summer of Messalonskee Lake in Oakland, Maine. I will now move forward in our study which is focused on fear, love, and faith. First, let’s take a moment and read our primary text from the Book of Hebrews aloud.
Hebrews 11:23-27 (KJV)
23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.
24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter;
25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.
27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
Anywhere that we see faith at work we know that even though unmentioned love also is at work. Without the work or power of love there is no such thing as the effective exercise of faith, period. Let me remind us all one more time that Bible love, agape, is obedience to the Scripture, a selfless life, and observance of The Blood Covenant. Yesterday we looked at the account of Jairus’ faith and love. The result was that his daughter rose from the dead. Jairus was confident that God would do His Word (God’s love towards us) if he did his part which was to believe God’s Word, and decree God’s Word. Decreeing or declaring the desired result according to the Word of God is a working together of the superpower twins’ faith and love. It is impossible for love to exist without faith or faith without love. Fear is Egypt, it is sin and it keeps the Hands of God tied and His goodness out of our lives. It literally prevents God from exercising His love in our lives. Now, I want to move to perhaps the most famous example of fear bringing tremendous destruction not just to the one fearing but the most cherished people around him. That example is Job.
Job 1:5 (KJV)
5 And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.
Job may well have been the richest man of his time and he had good standing with God until the verse above. Job was in fear concerning his children and this opened the door wide to Satan.
Job 1:12 (KJV)
12 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.
You will recall that the thief, who is Satan, comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. Once God heard the case, the judgment was rendered. Fear is sin and opened the door, we open the door not God and not Satan. Fear is the manifest destruction of faith and love. Job was in fear concerning his children, are you?
Job 3:25-26 (KJV)
25 For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.
26 I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.
In the preceding passage Job realizes what has caused this mess, his very own fear. Fear cost him his fortune and the lives of his kids. Repentance of the evil of fear and a full turning to faith and love will bring restoration and more into our lives just as it did in Job’s life.
Job 6:24 (AMP)
24 Teach me, and I will hold my peace; and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.
Finally, Job cries out to the Lord to help him with his mouth. I wonder if there is something for us to take to heart here? He knew that fear had caused a great calamity but he was not quite sure how and he needed God to instruct him. This needs to be our cry as well rather than the false Church dogma that God is working something out in our lives. No, no, no, the devil is trying to kill us.
Job 40:2-7 (KJV)
2 Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.
3 Then Job answered the LORD, and said,
4 Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.
5 Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.
6 Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
7 Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
God said that Job had been contending with Him or had been in opposition to Him. How? By fear! God then tells him to stand up like a man and make a Godly decree. He is saying the same thing to us today. Only in that way can the destruction in our lives be put on the run and the abundance that Jesus died for come roaring into our lives. Until our next publication, I speak this Scriptural prayer for your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
2 Peter 1:2-4 (KJV)
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
