THE THREE MINUTE WORD
Wednesday – August 9, 2023, Av 22, 5783
Greetings dear and precious saints of God, my brothers and sisters in the faith, this common salvation. Welcome back to this enlightening study of the wonderful Bible Book of Isaiah. The study is not enlightening because of me, but because of Him, the Teacher. Please take a moment and share this teaching by every means available to you. The sharing is very important. Thank you for sharing. The featured picture today is provided by Marilyn Stevens who takes the most wonderful wildlife pictures especially of birds. The picture of the ducks today is wonderful. Thank you so much Marilyn.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah. Continue (not start) to read out loud.
Isaiah 44:1-5 (KJV)
1 Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:
2 Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.
3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:
4 And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses.
5 One shall say, I am the LORD’S; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and surname himself by the name of Israel.
Yesterday we ended talking about the Lord pouring out His Word and His Spirit upon the thirsty, the dry ground. Before we move forward let’s take on more look at the third verse.
Isaiah 44:3 (KJV)
3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:
What I want to draw our attention to today is the b portion of the verse with the Lord telling His people He will pour His Spirit upon the seed of Jacob, Israel, Jesurun and upon their offspring. It seems to me there is at least a twofold meaning being put forth here. One is that He will bless the Jewish people. There is a blessing residual upon the Jewish peoples even in the face of rejecting the Messiah. They remain the apple of His eye. One may wonder about this but I see the example of Elisha as a prime example of this Truth.
2 Kings 13:14 (KJV)
14 Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.
2 Kings 13:21 (KJV)
21 And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.
Here we see a very powerful Prophet of God who did many major miracles yet he falls sick and dies of that sickness. We might ask why? We see wonderfully Anointed men and women in our own lifetimes who died of disease. The answer is always faith coupled with deceptions of the demons. Yes, even the most powerful among us can succumb to the tricks of the devil if not vigilant. Remember the Lord tells us through the Apostle Paul that His callings and gifts are given without repentance. The “they” in the following passage are the Jewish peoples.
Romans 11:28-29 (KJV)
28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes.
29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
There is more to say about this and I will pick up with that right here tomorrow.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
