ONE GENERATION TO THE NEXT

Good morning, good day, or good evening depending on when you are reading this and welcome back to this amazing Bible Study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. God is so good to give us His Word to guide us in every aspect of our lives. Yes, every aspect of our lives. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. The featured picture today is of a Church congregation. I know this may not look like your congregation in the physical but what about the spiritual? This is a reminder to pray for, intercede for all saints.
Ephesians 6:18 (KJV)
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Much of our prayer life must be in the Spirit (an unknown tongue, our prayer language received with the baptism of the Holy Spirit) for we don’t always know how to pray but God the Holy Spirit does. Remember one lesson gave us about the vital role of intercession, praying for others.
Luke 13:6-9 (KJV)
6 He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
7 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
8 And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
9 And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in Isaiah continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 38:17-22 (TLB)
17 “Yes, now I see it all—it was good for me to undergo this bitterness, for you have lovingly delivered me from death; you have forgiven all my sins.
18 For dead men cannot praise you. They cannot be filled with hope and joy.
19 The living, only the living, can praise you as I do today. One generation makes known your faithfulness to the next.
20 Think of it! The Lord healed me! Every day of my life from now on I will sing my songs of praise in the Temple, accompanied by the orchestra.”
21 (For Isaiah had told Hezekiah’s servants, “Make an ointment of figs and spread it over the boil, and he will get well again.”
22 And then Hezekiah had asked, “What sign will the Lord give me to prove that he will heal me?”)
I discussed yesterday that a useful tool in studying Scripture is to determine who is speaking and to whom are they speaking. All the Scripture is true (true account) but not all Scripture is The Truth. Verse eighteen is only partially the Truth. This is an accurate recording of what Hezekiah said, wrote, but it was his thoughts, his understanding, not that of God or even ours today. Saints who die, although until the resurrection of the body and being reunited with the spirit cannot praise the Lord their spirit man can praise the Lord. Whether it be in the Bosom of Abraham before the Resurrection of Christ or Heaven since the Resurrection of Christ the spirit man can and does praise the Lord. The spirit man is the combination of our spirit and soul both came from God. Our spirit man is in close habitation with the Holy Spirit for the saved and is where the fruits of the spirit are located. Our soul, also of God and is thus spirit, is where our mind, intellect, will, and emotions are located. Those who die and go into the pit (Hell) have no place for praise, celebration, or hope. They cannot make know the Truth for they rejected the Truth in favor of the lie (lies and deceptions of Satan).
King Hezekiah goes on to tell us the Lord saved him and because of that he will sing unto the Lord all the days of his life. As we will see shortly King Hezekiah’s repentance and turning away from pride is short lived. We tend to have short memories, don’t we? We sometimes don’t connect the dots, change our thoughts, words, and ways to continue in victory but revert to our old ways.
