OPEN YE THE GATES

Greeting dear and precious children of God, and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog and our study of the Bible Book of Isaiah Monday through Thursday each week. Please take a moment to share this teaching by every means available to you to broaden the reach of this Ministry. Thank you so much for sharing. The featured picture is a free downloadable image from the internet of ancient closed doors or gates. These gates to the Kingdom of God are closed to the unbelieving, those who do not love (agape) the Lord, but flung wide open for those who love the Lord. Believing on God has always been the key, Jew or Gentile. Thank you, Lord Jesus for redemption, for those who will receive, for all people of all time! Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 26:1-4 (KJV)
1 In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks.
2 Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.
3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:
Many times, in Scripture the phrase “in that day” is referring to our day, this time, the time when Salvation is come. Notice the the phrase “salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks”. Let’s take a look at it in another Bible translation.
Isaiah 26:1 (TLB)
1 Listen to them singing! In that day the whole land of Judah will sing this song: “Our city is strong! We are surrounded by the walls of his salvation!”
I don’t know about you but this brings salvation as a part of the whole armor of God to my mind.
Ephesians 6:17 (KJV)
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
The word salvation means to rescue, bring safety (physical or morally), deliverance, health, and may even refer to a person, a deliverer according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. The ultimate Deliverer of course is Christ Jesus. Our knowledge of salvation and unwavering faith in our deliverance keeps us safe from all things evil. To unfold this a little further, for this is wonderful, let’s look at the next verse from Isaiah in The Living Bible.
Isaiah 26:2 (TLB)
2 Open the gates to everyone, for all may enter in who love the Lord.
It will always come back to faith powered by love. Recall that to love (agape) the Lord means that we obey Him, we have a selfless lifestyle (dead to self), and we abide in Blood Covenant. As we come to an end for today, let’s take a look at a familiar passage and one that is particularly meaningful to me.
Psalm 91:14-16 (KJV)
14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
Notice the very first word, because, this tells us that what follows that statement is the foundation for all that follows. Because I, you, set our love (agape) our obedience on Him then we come under Kingdom of God jurisdiction and His protection and Blessing. Just take your time to reflect on these wonderful verses. The Church is “the righteous nation which keepeth the truth”. This part of the 91st Psalm is particularly meaningful to me because at the end of January 1997 I had a heart attack and when I awakened from the angioplasty (balloon) of one of my heart vessels the Lord was speaking this passage to me. I did not hear an audible voice but I know it was the Lord speaking to me through my spirit. Now, over 25 years later He is indeed honoring His Word as I love and honor Him.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember that we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
