OUR GOD IS GOD ALONE

Greeting dear children of the Father, servants of the King of kings, and those taught, comforted, and helped by the Helper. Welcome back to this wonderful Bible Study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. The featured picture today is of the Statehouse in Delaware to remind us to pray for those in authority.
1 Timothy 2:1-3 (KJV)
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
No matter how much we might despise the politics or beliefs of one in authority we should not want them to go to Hell. I understand that our flesh will want to rise up and send them right now, if possible, to Hell, but really. Like our Heavenly Father we don’t want anyone to perish but to have maximal opportunity to turn to the light and be a child of God. Hell is really bad dear ones and it is forever, no one should go due to our inattention to intercede as commanded and as led of the Holy Spirit. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah and continue reading out loud. Why does the Holy Spirit keep prompting me to remind my readers to read out loud?
Isaiah 37:20-23 (HCSB)
20 Now, LORD our God, save us from his power so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are the LORD—You alone.
21 Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent ⌊a message⌋ to Hezekiah: “The LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘Because you prayed to Me about Sennacherib king of Assyria,
22 this is the word the LORD has spoken against him: Virgin Daughter Zion despises you and scorns you: Daughter Jerusalem shakes ⌊her⌋ head behind your back.
23 Who is it you have mocked and blasphemed? Who have you raised ⌊your⌋ voice against and lifted your eyes in pride? Against the Holy One of Israel!
As we have pursued this study of Isaiah, I am sure it has not escaped any of our notice how merciful and longsuffering our Lord is in the face of our rebellion. I for one am very thankful for Gods’ mercy. As you study any of the Prophets and other Books of the Bible you will see that God is continually pointing out the sin, the way back which is always repenting of the sin, and the consequences of not repenting. However, time and time again, they do not repent, like the Church today, and punishment comes otherwise our God would be unjust. The Church and thus the world are as far away from our foundation, The Word of God, the Truth, as at any time in the history of America. Repentance comes before restoration, before revival, be it personal or corporate. We are preaching about and praying for what revival brings when we need to be preaching and praying about what brings revival, restoration. We cannot shortcut the Kingdom of God. I am writing this about a week before Christmas and I don’t see much difference between the worlds approach and the Churches approach to this Christmas season. Sure, the Christians have a religious flare, but no real focus on the Messiah. Without His coming there would be no joy, no hope, no crucifixion, no defeat of Satan, no Resurrection, and no salvation. No joy, no hope.
Now, let’s focus back on our Isaiah text. Last week I left off with verse twenty and pointed out how this reminded me of what David had to say before bringing down Goliath.
1 Samuel 17:46 (KJV)
46 This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. (Bold added)
What about when God brought Elijah whole (natural man) into Heaven?
2 Kings 2:13-15 (KJV)
13 He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;
14 And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over. (Bold added)
15 And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.
Might we ask a similar question.
