OUR SINS HAVE BEEN PURGED
Wednesday – June 7, 2017

Greetings and welcome back to our Bible Study from the Book of Hebrews presented by Dr. Wood and The Three Minute Word publications. God is so very good. Does your spiritual and physical environment seem dry and desolate like we see with our lone Arabian camel in the desert? The answers to our dryness and desolation are in our mouths.
Hebrews 1:1-3 (KJV)
1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
I spoke at some length yesterday about the phrase “upholding all things by the word of his power” from our text. Whatever the spiritual laws of God may be and the physical laws which reflect those spiritual laws may be, Jesus, the Son, is seeing to it that all is maintained. We as free-will creations of God can chose to do the will of God or the will of the devil and these laws will apply in either case. As freewill creations God honors our right to create a future independent of His will and independent of His Kingdom. If we choose the Truth we can have the Truth in fullness in our lives. If we choose the lie we can have the lie in fullness in our lives. When we willfully mix the two we have a confusion and defeat. That is not to say that a mixing of good and evil does not have negative consequences done in ignorance they (the negative consequences) are just to a lesser extent.
One must wonder why in the world would a person choose a lie but it started in the Garden of Eden and continues to this day. How many lies have I chosen, have you chosen, and we are living out the fruit of those lies and more fruit (stealing, killing, and destroying) is just ahead if we don’t repent and embrace the Truth in thought and word? The very next phrase from our text should make us jump for joy in our own ways for it is the way of salvation. Let’s look at it and let it sink into our deepest thoughts and beliefs.
Hebrews 1:3 (KJV)
3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
Jesus, the Son, He alone purged, eliminated our sins. He and He alone could do this. A sinless man (until sin) sinned and brought the curse spirit, soul, and body and a sinless man would have to pay the price of sin. Only One man, the man Christ Jesus could get it done and done forever. Jesus did not sin, He willingly even joyfully was made sin that we would be made the righteousness of God in Him. The word purged means to eliminate, to remove, to eradicate, to expel, to expunge, and to get rid of. Look at how the Apostle Paul by the leadership of the Holy Spirit puts it in the following Scripture.
Colossians 2:13-15 (KJV)
13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
The Cross was the place where the final and eternal ratifying of The Blood Covenant initiated with Abram/Abraham occurred. On that Cross, the blood of man and the blood of God was shed to ratify that Covenant. The shedding of innocent blood by an unblemished man (spirit, soul, and body) was required for before sin that was also a picture of Adam (innocent, unblemished). Jesus is the last Adam. Sin brought the curse, the elimination of sin allowed the return of the Blessing and the restoration of mankind as the children of God. God made the physical body of the man from dirt uncorrupted by sin and breathed of Himself into the man and he became a living soul (Genesis 2:7). With sin, he became a dead soul, the spirit was dead, disconnected from and unresponsive to God, the mind was corrupted (by the lie of the serpent), and the body corrupted and doomed to physical death and decay back to dust. When Jesus, the Son, took our sins He died spiritually, and subsequently gave up the ghost dying physically. The life-giving force for our body is our spirit (James 2:26). Jesus’ mind was never corrupted since He never sinned, He was made sin in our stead.
The sacrifice, the being made sin, the death of Jesus purged us of all sin (except the rejection of Jesus), blotting out our sin so we could live again. When He was quickened (made alive [spirit and body]), so were we, when He was raised to the right hand of Majesty on high so were we in Him. The devil had a great case against us but Jesus paid the price of it all eliminating the very writing on the accusation the devil was bringing to the Father. Jesus, the Son, by His death and resurrection purchased for us a place far above every evil power and made them (the devil and his minions) a mockery. Children of God, think on these things!
Romans 3:25 (KJV)
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV)
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
