REFUSE AND REBEL

Greetings dear and precious children of the only living God and welcome back to this in-depth study of the Book of Isaiah. What a wonderful Book. God is so good to us. Before I proceed, please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible so that the reach of this really good news to expanded. I have not mentioned it in some time, but the most reliable (compared to Facebook) way to receive these teachings is by email. Simply send me an email (pastordavidwood@gmail.com) requesting to be on my email list. You will receive an invitation back from me which you need to accept and it is a done deal. The featured picture today is provided by our good friend and man of God, Joe Getchell Jr. We are currently on the hunt (God directed) for a home here with a pool (smile) per Ms. Donna. Donna and I believe we are where the Lord wants us and, in this place, we will further the Kingdom according to His will for us. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah. Please continue to read aloud, yes, out loud. Faith comes by hearing the spoken Word (Rhema) and it is impossible to please God without faith.
Isaiah 1:19-20 (KJV)
19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
Since we, the Church corporately and individually, have all authority, all Power, and legally own all, just who is the “good of the land” for? I sure hope you all got this right! The “good of the land” is for the sons of God, those who are “willing and obedient” walking by faith, motivated by love, and led of the Holy Spirit allowing the Father to work through us. Now, let’s fix our attention upon verse twenty. This is the other side of the coin. Perhaps most of us would quickly exclaim that this does not describe us. We would be quick to explain that we are not refusing the Lord or being rebellious. Then I ask this question of us all, including me. Where is the fruit of our willingness and obedience? Have we repeatedly refused the Lord, rebelled against the Word of the Lord? What is the opposite of the “good of the land”? According to the Thesaurus these are antonyms of good: bad, useless, unsuitable, poor, and unpleasant. Are these things in our lives? The devils and the curse will bring these things to us. The question is; have we allowed them into our lives? They come in only when we give the devil place. Sometimes we know we are refusing the Lord and rebelling, other times it is in ignorance, deception. We do not have near the reverence of the Lord we should have and therefore many times treat this refusing and rebellion as a light thing when it is not. What does it mean to be devoured by the sword? What is the sword? It is the Word of God.
Ephesians 6:17 (KJV)
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
The Word of God is a double-edged sword. We see this in our primary Isaiah text. One edge of the sword is eating the good of the land and the other edge is being devoured. Let’s take a moment and look at a few words from the Master.
Matthew 12:37 (KJV)
37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
We are justified when we are using His Words and we are condemned (by our own mouth) when we use other words.
John 12:48 (KJV)
48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
Do we suppose there are consequences, serious consequences, involved with rejecting the Word of God? Let’s refresh our memories to hopefully some very familiar passages.
Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (KJV)
1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
I like this side, this edge of the Sword, but am I willing listen to the Rhema (spoken Word), look at the Logos (written Word), and do it (willing and obedient). Or have we turned aside to other gods?
Deuteronomy 28:15 (KJV)
15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
Let’s see, on the one hand blessing and on the other cursing, which should we choose? Will we choose to walk after the Spirit of God choosing the Blessing or will we choose to walk after the flesh choosing the curse? The blessing brings the good of the land, the curse brings devouring (stealing, killing, and destroying).
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as your Bible Teacher and a Prophetic Voice in your life I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
