RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD

Greetings dear and precious children of the only living God and welcome back to this in-depth study of the Book of Isaiah. What a wonderful Book. God is so good to us. Before I proceed, please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible so that the reach of this really good news to expanded. I have not mentioned it in some time, but the most reliable (compared to Facebook) way to receive these teachings is by email. Simply send me an email requesting to be on my mailing list. You will receive an invitation back from me which you accept and it is a done deal. The featured picture today I took out the airplane window as it was descending into San Antonio, Texas on the 17th of June. We are currently on the hunt (God directed) for a home here with a pool (smile) per Ms. Donna. Donna and I believe we are where the Lord wants us and, in this place, we will further the Kingdom according to His will for us, for the Kingdom. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah. Please continue to read aloud, yes, out loud. Faith comes by hearing the spoken Word (Rhema) and it is impossible to please God without faith.
Isaiah 1:19-20 (KJV)
19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
Perhaps you have heard the phrase “the full counsel of Scripture” meaning that all has to take into account context and the whole of the Word rightly dividing the Scripture. For example, when the devil tempted Jesus in the wilderness, he quoted the Scripture correctly. Many may come to us correctly quoting Scripture but it may not be rightly divided in context. Let’s look at that.
Luke 4:10-12 (KJV)
10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:
11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
Look at the New Living Translation.
Luke 4:10-12 (NLT)
10 For the Scriptures say, ‘He will order his angels to protect and guard you.
11 And they will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.’”
12 Jesus responded, “The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the LORD your God.’”
Many times, there is an, “it is also written”. I said all of this to say that we must rightly divide the Isaiah Scripture we are studying. As we look back at verse nineteen, we see that the payoff of being willing and obedient is the eating the good of the land. Remember the word “willing” has to do with an eager, excited to do it attitude. Why are we excited and eager, what is our motive? Our motive must always be love (agape) of God. This agape (love) is selfless, eager to obey Scripture, and cognizant and obedient to our Blood Covenant. That is our prime motivation not the eating of the good of the land. That is not to say we don’t enjoy the good of the land and that we don’t recognize it as the harvest (seedtime and harvest) of willingness and obedience, but our focus is the Lord, the Kingdom.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Doesn’t this say essentially the same thing as Isaiah 1:19? Of course, it does! What about the following passage?
Mark 10:29-30 (KJV)
29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,
30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
So, what does it mean if this is not present in our life? The Matthew and Mark references are not referring to some sort of spiritual blessing relegated to the sweet by and by but physical and right now. Each one of us must be brutally honest with ourselves and our walk to this point with the Lord. We have a good, wonderful, and generous Father! Why is this manifest in so few? Could it be that only a few have been willing and obedient?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as your Bible Teacher and a Prophetic Voice in your life I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
