THE BLOOD COVENANT – PART ONE
Sunday – February 4, 2018

My topic this Sunday and the next four (five total) deals with the topic of blood covenant. I will be dealing with ten components of blood covenant over the course of this brief study. By way of an introduction or preamble let’s consider the following. Most are aware of the Bible being divided into the Old and New Testaments. For the most part the Old Testament operated under a covenant with God of animal blood to cover sin. The New Testament is when Jesus comes, dies on the Cross and His precious Blood expunges our sin. Those who choose to enter this New Blood Covenant are a new creation in Christ Jesus. The prophetic Word for this New Blood Covenant and its foreshadowing are seen in the beginning on the Day of Sin. The story of The New Blood Covenant starts with Abram and is consummated by Christ Jesus at Calvary with the Words, “It is finished”. I taught on this recently fairly extensively in The Three Minute Word.
The featured picture is an artist’s depiction of the night that surrogate animal blood was spilled as a testament for Abram and a looking forward to the Blood of Jesus.
Genesis 15:17 (KJV)
17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.
All covenants between God and mankind are a manifestation of love, agape, the God kind of love. Scripture makes it clear that not only does God have love but God is love. I will now share with you the definition of agapē (Greek Strong’s Number: 26) or agapaō (Greek Strong’s Number: 25) which the Lord gave me in my study of this topic some years ago. “Love is a deep and constant interest in a person. It is a function of the will. It is right (righteous – Biblical) and reflects or is born of the blood covenant. This love is not dependent on the recipient in any way but is solely dependent on the giver.”
Love, the God kind of love that only God and His children can and do possess, has three major components. These are not in order of importance for they are of equal importance and do not exist independent of the others. First love is obedience to the Word of God. That is our obedience to the Word and His obedience to His own Word.
John 14:21 (KJV)
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
The second component is selflessness. Certainly, I think that we can agree that God is certainly selfless or not selfish. In like manner we are to be selfless towards God and man. The following well known passage of Scripture expresses this component very well. The word translated as “charity” in this passage is this same Greek word transliterated to English as ‘agape’, the God kind of love.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (KJV)
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8 Charity never faileth: …
The third component of the love of God which is a part of our spiritual DNA as children of God is entrance into and honoring of The Blood Covenant. The New Blood Covenant supersedes and does away with the Old Covenant of animal blood and the ceremonies associated with animal sacrifice. However, this New Blood Covenant does not negate even one Word of the Old Covenant or Testament. Marriage between one man and one woman is a type of blood covenant so keep in mind that the things described as part of The Blood Covenant also apply in marriages. After all, we are in a marriage arrangement with Christ Jesus. Agapē, the God originating love is covenant love, specifically Blood Covenant love. Love will bring about the performance of the Blood Covenant which is sealed by the sinless blood of Jesus manifesting in obedience to the
Word of God and a selflessness. The following ten points I am about to share were abstracted from E. W. Kenyon’s book titled, “The Blood Covenant”. E. W. Kenyon is a wonderful man of God, moved to Heaven in 1948, with a revelation of God rarely found among men. His book titled “New Creation Realities” revolutionized my thinking opening vista’s I was not hearing anywhere else. I recall as I was reading it I would come out and read a portion with the Scripture to Patti and wonder why we were not hearing this in Church. Brother and sister, the Church is in sad shape, it is riddled with the traditions of men and the doctrines of demons which are without power and destructive. The Church in many cases is the devils’ greatest weapon against us individually and the Kingdom of God. I will pickup here next Sunday with our study of the ten major components of The Blood Covenant.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
