THE INDIGNATION OF THE LORD

Greetings precious children of God the Father, brothers and sisters with Christ, and Helped of the Holy Spirit. Welcome back to our Bible Study of the wonderful Bible Book of Isaiah. Well Christmas is behind us and the New Year looms just ahead. We hope that all had a wonderful celebration commemorating the birth of the Messiah (Savior), Christ Jesus. The joy of that day, nor any other day for that matter except the day of our salvation, is not dependent upon the dinner or the gifts exchanged but upon the greatest gift of all, a Savior. The foods, the lingering leftovers, the gifts will soon be forgotten but our decisions concerning the Savior will impact us forever. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing, the Lord bless you and keep you. The featured picture today was taken by our good friend and man of God Joe Getchell Jr in October. Very beautiful picture, thank you Joe. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 34:1-6 (KJV)
1 Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it.
2 For the indignation of the LORD is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.
3 Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.
4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.
5 For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.
6 The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the LORD hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea.
As you will recall we have been examining what timeframe the Lord is addressing with our text. Yesterday we looked briefly at the Tribulation period and although there are things that could apply, we are thinking more towards another time period. Today I will look at the Battle of Armageddon. This is a lengthy passage.
Revelation 19:11-21 (KJV)
11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.
This could certainly fit for our text except for verse four of our text which seems to look at a time period closely associated with the creation of the new heaven and the new earth. We will examine that tomorrow. By the way does any of this appeal to you? Which side do you want to be on. Decide today, this is the day of salvation.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow and we will look at the end of it all. By that, “the end of it all” I mean this creation, the curse, and the end of our demonic enemies.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
