AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH

THE LOFTINESS OF MAN
Greeting dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this powerful, insightful (revelation from the Lord), and empowering Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. As I have pointed out many times, neither will this study or any other do any of us any good if we do not engage with it on a personal level. This is not just an ancient lesson about an ancient people, but a now Word for the Church at large and every one of us individually. Please take a moment and share this and every teaching as widely as possible to bring the good news (gospel) to an audience wider than we alone can reach. The beautiful picture featured today was taken at Quill Hill Rangeley Maine last summer. Does that dead and barren tree represent my life, your life, the condition of the Church or our nation? Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text from the Book of Isaiah and read it aloud, yes, out loud.
Isaiah 2:17-19 (KJV)
17 And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.
18 And the idols he shall utterly abolish.
19 And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
God through the Prophet Isaiah is continuing to speak about how His people (yes, His people, it’s expected of the world) have turned aside to idols (people and things). Idolatry is no different than adultery (spiritual or physical). What and who are my idols and yours? Now let’s look at the same passage in the New Living Translation to bring our understanding up a notch.
Isaiah 2:17-19 (NLT)
17 Human pride will be humbled, and human arrogance will be brought down. Only the LORD will be exalted on that day of judgment.
18 Idols will completely disappear.
19 When the LORD rises to shake the earth, his enemies will crawl into holes in the ground. They will hide in caves in the rocks from the terror of the LORD and the glory of his majesty.
Notice how pride (arrogance, conceit, smugness, egotism, superiority) is always wrapped up in all of this. Have you heard the phrase “I can do it myself”? In our children and even adults we tend to look at this and laugh even thinking it cute, but is it? Of course, there are many things we must learn and do ourselves in our relationship and fellowship with God as well as this natural life. Each of us humbly (opposite of pride) before God must discern where our growth process and increasing maturity leave off and pride begins. That alone requires humility and the absence of pride. Pride will keep us from asking for help and also brings the resistance of God into any and all of our efforts, our life. I don’t know about you but I am pretty sure that is not smart, pleasing to God. I want nothing to do with God Himself resisting me.
The shaking of the earth, the great and final shaking of the earth, is yet to come, yet many smaller shakings have occurred and many are to follow before the great day of the Lord. There can be physical shakings of the earth like with earthquakes but there can be spiritual shakings of the earth as well. These spiritual shakings can be good or bad. For example, an awaking or other great move of God through and upon His people is a good shaking. However, the kind of shaking we are experiencing today with all righteousness not only under attack but being overtly pushed out of the way with the wickedness of the demons. This is things like the gay agenda (sexual perversions of every sort), and abortions. I have shared the following passage before describing a part of the Tribulation period. The systems of this world that are not of God and all things will perish, soon, very soon. The heathen that perhaps we depended upon will flee before the Lord. Problem is for them, there is no where to flee. Justice will prevail. Read the back of the Book dear ones and take the time to remind the demons about it as well next time they come around, which will most likely be today.
Revelation 6:15-17 (KJV)
15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
The thing I have always found amazing about the Tribulation in general and this passage in particular is that the people recognized the situation but did not seek repentance which was available. People will be saved during the Tribulation period of time, sometimes at the cost of their lives.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
