THE MAN IN CHARGE

Greetings dear and precious children of our Father God and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog. Please take a moment and share this teaching by every available means available to you expanding our reach of the gospel. Thank you so much for sharing. One other piece of housekeeping is to thank Joe Getchell Jr. for the featured picture today. Thank you so much Joe. As you will recall we are making our way through the Bible Book of Isaiah and we will pick up today in the 22nd chapter. Continue to read out loud in order to achieve maximum benefit and built faith to another level.
Romans 10:17 (KJV)
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Remember it is impossible to please God without faith.
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
And, it is our faith that overcomes the world.
1 John 5:3-4 (KJV)
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
Did you notice that the coupling of love (agape) and faith (Galatians 5:6) are necessary to our victory overcoming the world? It is not God that overcomes the world for us, it is our exercise of love and faith that overcomes the world. Let us heed the Words of Jesus.
Revelation 3:21 (KJV)
21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
What about if you don’t overcome? What are we to overcome? Look back at 1 John 5:3-4 above. Now let’s continue with our study of Isaiah reading out loud.
Isaiah 22:15-19 (GW)
15 This is what the Almighty LORD of Armies says: Go to Shebna, the man in charge of the palace, and say {to him},
16 “What are you doing here? What right do you have to dig a tomb for yourself? What right do you have to cut it out in a prominent place? What right do you have to carve out a resting place for yourself in the rock?
17 Look, mighty man! The LORD will throw you out. He will grab you.
18 He will wrap you up tightly like a turban. He will throw you far away into another land. There you will die. There your splendid chariots will remain. There you will become a disgrace to your master’s household.
19 “I will remove you from your office and do away with your position.
I think we all can see there is ongoing judgment against Israel. And why is there a judgment that looses the devils to steal, kill, and destroy? Unrepented sin! As we read these accounts it is difficult, at least for me, to fathom why they would not repent. However, repeated rejection of the voice of God results in a hardened heart and a stiffened neck. A very dangerous place to be for destruction, even Hell, is at our door. Let us all ask the Lord to search us and show us by any means possible, even through people we don’t like, any areas of blindness, of rebellion.
A question that arose in me as I read this passage, like many before, is what is the timing of this. Is it in Isaiah’s time or is he prophesying about a distant event? It appears from the names that he is talking at least one hundred plus years in the future, the time of Hezekiah. However, as we will see tomorrow as we enter verses twenty and following that He is prophesying about the coming Messiah and His Kingdom.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
