HEAL, COMFORT, PEACE

Greetings dear friends, partners, and followers of this Ministry and The Three Minute Word. The Lord is good and greatly to be praised. Dear ones we are so blessed to have the whole of the Word of God, light for our path. These people in the time of Isaiah did not have what many today unfortunately take for granted. The featured picture is of the Old South Church in Boston. Apparently was attended by Benjamin Franklin. This Church was organized in 1669. It is a Congregational Church and was also called Third Church to distinguish it from First and Second Congregational Church in the same city. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible Text and examine three key words in verses 18 and 19. These three words are heal, comfort, and peace. Please continue to read out loud.
Isaiah 57:18-21 (NIV)
18 I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will guide him and restore comfort to him,
19 creating praise on the lips of the mourners in Israel. Peace, peace, to those far and near,” says the LORD. “And I will heal them.”
20 But the wicked are like the tossing sea, which cannot rest, whose waves cast up mire and mud.
21 “There is no peace,” says my God, “for the wicked.”
First, let’s deal with the Hebrew word transliterated to English as “heal”. to mend, to cure, heal, physician, repair, make whole according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Healing is a part of who God is, a part of His character, he is not the God that maketh thee sick to test or try thee. Jehovah Rapha is a name of God that centers on the fact that He is a healer. This first appears in Exodus.
Exodus 15:26 (KJV)
26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.
The terminal phrase “I am the LORD that healeth thee” could be put this way, I am your Jehovah Rapha. I want to make a brief comment about the phrase “I will put none of these diseases upon thee”. It is my understanding that in the Hebrew language if a thing is permitted it is no different than causing the thing. Here is the thing, sin is always the trigger that brings the curse into our lives. The evil spirits will threaten us with some element or perhaps many elements of the curse but so long as we don’t fall for his deceptions the curse cannot enter, it is a threat and not a reality. This is where the command to resist the devil and he will flee is so important. This healing in that time was soul (mind, will, emotions) and body, today since Calvary it is spirit, soul, and body. Be aware that healing of the soul (mind) is not instant, it is incremental and fully within our control.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
