HIS HOLY SPIRIT WITHIN THEM

Greetings dear children of God and those who are running from God, to those who practice love (agapē) and those who think they do. Welcome back to this enlightening, engaging, and empowering study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. The featured picture today is of the Governor’s Mansion in Annapolis Maryland. The purpose is to remind us all of the importance of praying for, obeying, and honoring those in authority. Now, let’s cast our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud, yes, out loud.
Isaiah 63:14-16 (NKJV)
14 As a beast goes down into the valley, And the Spirit of the LORD causes him to rest, So You lead Your people, To make Yourself a glorious name.
15 Look down from heaven, And see from Your habitation, holy and glorious. Where are Your zeal and Your strength, The yearning of Your heart and Your mercies toward me? Are they restrained?
16 Doubtless You are our Father, Though Abraham was ignorant of us, And Israel does not acknowledge us. You, O LORD, are our Father; Our Redeemer from Everlasting is Your name.
I will be picking up with this text as the week progresses but first I want to revisit verse eleven.
Isaiah 63:11 (NKJV)
11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people, saying: “Where is He who brought them up out of the sea With the shepherd of His flock? Where is He who put His Holy Spirit within them,
Notice that the text says that God “put His Holy Spirit within them” however that may not be an accurate translation. For example, the Amplified and other says His Spirit was among them.
Isaiah 63:11 (AMP)
11 Then His people [seriously] remembered the days of old, of Moses and his people [and they said], Where is He Who brought [our fathers] up out of the [Red] Sea, with [Moses and the other] shepherds of His flock? Where is He Who put His Holy Spirit within their midst,
This brings up an interesting question. Could Old Testament (after the sin of Adam and before the Book of Acts Feast of Pentecost) saints be filled with the Holy Spirit. We are used to hearing that the Holy Spirit was upon certain people (Prophet, Priest, King) in the Old Testament but not within. However, let us give some thought to the following Scriptures concerning John the Baptist.
Luke 1:15 (KJV)
15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb.
Luke 1:39-41 (KJV)
39 And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;
40 And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.
41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
Not only was John the Baptist filled with the Holy Spirit but so was his mother, Elisabeth.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
