JUDE – PART TWENTY-EIGHT
Greetings precious saints of God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob/Israel. Welcome back to this enlightening and thought-provoking study of the Book of Jude. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. You are a blessing to the Kingdom of God, this Ministry, as well as Donna and me individually. It blesses us to see that you value these teaching enough to share.
This Bible Book of Jude speaks to faith and disbelief, even the controversial topic of backsliding (going from unsaved to saved then by choice back to unsaved). Nobody “loses” their salvation like one might lose some personal item. It is a conscious deliberate choice. Just as going from the kingdom of darkness to light was a choice, so is going back to the kingdom of darkness. Unfortunately, this idea of changing kingdoms is intertwined often with the idea of predestination. We are all predestined for the Kingdom of God but many either refuse to accept salvation or once saved choose to go back into darkness. I gave you several Scriptures two weeks ago on this topic. Perhaps the greatest problem with the doctrine of predestination is it violates the Law of Freewill.
Now, let’s turn to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud, yes, out loud, you know why.
Jude 1:7-11 (KJV)
7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.
11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
I left off last Saturday addressing verse eight and the rebellion against authority that has gone on really since that of Lucifer and then in the Garden of Eden. Being proud or having pride is the opposite of humility (the real thing not feigned). Pride is rebellion, even idolatry (making ourselves god). Pride was the cardinal sin of Lucifer and later that infection spread throughout mankind.
1 Peter 5:5-7 (KJV)
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Humility brings the Hand of God into our lives; He gives Grace to the humble. Is there any place that Grace can’t take one? On the other hand, pride brings the resistance of God. Not casting our cares onto God is a sign of pride, a lack of trust, an I can do a better job attitude. It is rebellion. For just a moment regarding the body of Moses following his death. Jude says that the Archangel Michael contended with the devil for the body of Moses, let’s see what is written in Deuteronomy.
Deuteronomy 34:5-8 (KJV)
5 So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.
6 And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.
7 And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.
8 And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.
Here we see that the Lord buried him. Some years ago, I owned a ranch and I might tell the man working for me I or we were going to do this or that. Well, he knew I was talking about him and him alone doing that particular job. I might later say, “I just put this fence or whatever in” with the people understanding I had it put in. That is the case here, I believe. I don’t think God came down and buried Moses, I believe Michael did it. There is no other canonized Scripture to confirm this.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here in two weeks. Next Saturday is the Eve of the Feast of Lots otherwise known as Purim. The Lord is good and He cannot lie!
