WHAT ABOUT TONGUES? – PART NINE
Video link: https://youtu.be/-IvFLmaTdDE
Greetings dear ones and welcome back to part nine of our study of speaking in tongues. This study is entirely from the Holy Scriptures and none from tradition or Pentecostal ideology. Tongues is a vital part of the believer’s life with and following the infilling or baptism of the Holy Spirit. It helps us build our faith, uncover mysteries, and bring light (revelation knowledge of Scripture). As you will recall the Apostle Paul has written a letter to the Church at Corinth to give guidance and bring rebuke. This is not the Apostle Paul’s guidance and rebuke but guidance and rebuke from the Throne of Heaven. Let’s move forward listening intently to the guidance given.
1 Corinthians 14:27-33 (KJV)
27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
Perhaps you have been to a Church where there are multiple messages in tongues with interpretation from start to finish, well over three. Was it edifying? It seems there should be a set time when those who God wants to speak through can rise and deliver what is on their heart but not an unending timeframe. Verse thirty-three is a wonderful reminder for us all. The word “confusion” in verse thirty-three means instability, disorder, commotion, confusion, and tumult according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Is that Jesus being lifted up? The service is not to point to the Holy Spirit but to Jesus. The word “peace” in the same verse means to join (with Him in purpose), prosperity, one (spirit, soul, and body), quietness, rest (armed with His full provision), and set at one again (with God) according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Wow, what a contrast with confusion which is always of the devil! Finally.
1 Corinthians 14:40 (KJV)
40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
TAKE HOME:
- Tongues are a vital part of the believer’s life.
- Tongues is not a Pentecostal badge of pride but a vital gift of God.
- Avoid confusion which is of the demons, but maintain peace.
- Let all be done decently and in order.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Sunday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
