IT PLEASED THE LORD
Video link
Greetings dear and precious saints and welcome back to our Study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment and share as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. It is an encouragement to us when people share for it shows they value the teachings and believe others can as well.
The featured picture today is a spring/summer scene provided by our good friend and man of God, Joe Getchell Jr. Joe takes many really good pictures. Thank you, Joe. Before we delve into our Isaiah text, I want to share something that may help you.
2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
I want to focus in on “rightly dividing the word of truth”. This is extraordinarily important. Due to a lack of rightly dividing the Word of Truth we have myriads of denominations and beliefs within denominations and even within a single Church, and even within a family. All too many beliefs are based on half a verse, a single verse or the context of a single passage of Scripture. It is always wise to have at least one supporting witness to the same Truth elsewhere in Scripture by a different writer. Something I believe the Lord brought to my thinking recently was to be sure we don’t develop a theology, a belief, that violates any Spiritual Law of the Kingdom of God. This first was brought into my thinking with regard to the Spiritual Law of Freewill which God established from the beginning, the making of Adam.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in this wonderful Book of Isaiah. Please continue to read out loud, yes, out loud, you know why.
Isaiah 53:9-12 (KJV)
9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
I am picking up with verse ten today. To hopefully bring a little clarity let’s look at the verse in the NIV.
Isaiah 53:10 (NIV)
10 Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.
Man sinned and needed a Redeemer, God Himself was willing to be that Redeemer, just as Isaac was willing be a sacrifice on Mount Moriah some two-thousand years before Calvary. Just as Abraham knew that should Isaac die that day, God would raise Him from the dead for through him the Seed (Jesus) would come for the redemption of all mankind.
2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV)
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Likewise, Jesus knew that He was to be raised from the dead as well and not see corruption. We see it in our text, the 10th verse and the following verses.
John 10:17-18 (KJV)
17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
The following passage is the Word speaking through the Prophet David before coming into the earth as the Lamb of God.
Psalm 16:9-11 (ESV)
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure.
10 For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption.
11 You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, the Lord is good, and He cannot lie.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
