O THOU AFFLICTED

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this illuminating study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. The Lord is good to give us His Word so that we can walk in the light as He is in the light. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Sharing shows us that you value these teachings and this Ministry. The featured picture today is of Donna and me at Faith Chapel in Pennington Texas several months ago.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text for today continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 54:10-14 (KJV)
10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.
11 O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.
12 And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of pleasant stones.
13 And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.
14 In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.
Yesterday I left off with verse ten from which we were greatly encouraged. We saw that in spite of catastrophic circumstances God’s kindness, peace, and mercy would be in manifestation. Please remember, this is not automatic, it is for the child of God who does not fear. Some might say, “well fear is normal, everyone has fear”. I would say only if you find it normal hanging out with evil spirits. Sing the promises, the goodness of God, instead of allowing fear in. Let’s allow a New Testament passage to speak to us along the same lines as our text.
Romans 8:37-39 (KJV)
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
This word “love” in verse thirty-nine is agapē according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Just because the subject is God instead of us, the meaning does not change. God will perform His Word according to His promises and according to our faith. Next, we find the Lord speaking through the Prophet address the afflicted. The afflicted are the poor Christians among us. Perhaps you have heard a poor Christian proclaim with great pride that they don’t have this worlds goods, but they are rich in Heavenly treasure. Is this true? It is not the will of God that any child of His be poor.
Deuteronomy 8:18 (NIV)
18 But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today.
So, wealth in our earthly life is evidence of God’s Covenant in manifestation in our lives. The absence of wealth is evidence that one is not walking in the fulness of Covenant therefore in disobedience. Listen to the Apostle Peter.
2 Peter 1:2-3 (KJV)
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Notice that knowledge of God, of Jesus our Lord, not emotion, is a prerequisite to Grace and peace in our lives. Then we find that “all things that pertain unto life and godliness” comes through knowledge of Him. All things, natural things for this life, and all things for our supernatural lives which operate simultaneously come through our knowledge of God.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Remember the Lord loves you; He has a wonderful life for you if you so choose, and He cannot lie.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
