Greetings dear ones and welcome back to this wonderful and enlightening study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. These are not just interesting stories of an ancient people; this is for our learning that we not repeat history.
Romans 15:3-4 (KJV)
3 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.
4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. (Bold added)
Please take a moment and share this teaching and all the teachings from this Ministry to broaden our (and your) reach with the Truth. The Truth is sadly lacking in the body of Christ. I may not be talking about just the Church down the street. The featured picture today is of Donna and me, you guessed it, coming out of a restaurant in the Lake Travis area. The following is a new feature I will present from time to time for our enjoyment and perhaps education.
This day in History
On April 11, 1968, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed into law the Civil Rights Act of 1968, which included the Fair Housing Act, a week after the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. In 1814, Napoleon Bonaparte abdicated as Emperor of the French and was banished to the island of Elba.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud. Yes, out loud, you know why.
Isaiah 52:7-9 (KJV)
7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!
8 Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the LORD shall bring again Zion.
9 Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the LORD hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem.
As we end our study of Isaiah for this week, I will continue with verse seven picking up with “good tidings” and “tidings of good”. There is a subtle difference between the two but it is not repeated in the same verse for nothing. These are tidings of good, not bad, not tidings of lack, sickness, beatings, and martyrdom but good. I want to draw our attention to the word “publisheth”. This word transliterated from Greek to English means to hear intelligently, giving attention to, obedience to, and to tell according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary.
The first thing we see that we are to give our undivided attention to is peace. Let’s look at this word peace in the Hebrew. This word peace transliterated from Hebrew to English is shālôm meaning to be safe, to be well, happy, friendly; have a reality of wellbeing, to have great health, have prosperity, peace, have favor, and be whole according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Dear ones we are not appointed to the works of the devil (which we trigger) which are stealing, killing, and destroying. We trigger these things by turning aside from His Word to other words.
There confusion about the word suffer just as there is concerning judging. We are to judge all things as to if they are of God or not. Where we cross the line is when we declare a consequence. That is above our paygrade so to speak. There is a suffering for the sake of the Kingdom of God which would include putting up with persecution, the constant threat of harm, and being surrounded by people who are not diligent with the Kingdom. Here is an example in the Ministry of Jesus.
Matthew 17:17 (KJV)
17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
God has not called anyone other than Christ to die for the Kingdom, be beaten for the Kingdom, be in poverty for the Kingdom, or have all manner of physical illness. In the Kingdom of God (Heaven) there are none of these things. That does not mean that many have not been afflicted with all manner of evil things including death, but does that equal the will of God? A common question is; why do bad things happen to good people?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Remember, we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
