TO JUDGE OR NOT TO JUDGE THAT IS THE QUESTION

Greetings precious children of God and welcome back to this inspiring, empowering, and hope giving study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. As we precede forward, please take a moment to share these teachings as widely as possible to expand our reach with the gospel, the really good news. Thank you for sharing. By sharing you have a powerful role in the dissemination of the Truth. The featured picture today is of beautiful old Church in Belgrade Maine and to remind us to obey the command to pray for fellow believers.
James 5:16 (KJV)
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
These are difficult times in our own nation and around the world, let us pray for one another and have a steadfast faith in whom we trust, in whom our unshakeable hope resides.
Please notice the flow of this eleventh chapter of Isaiah. The first three verses deal with the first coming of Christ. The next two verses have to do with the Second Coming and the battle of Armageddon. It would be reasonable to conclude then that verses six through nine have to do with the Millennial Reign (and our reign with Him) of Christ over the whole earth, but do they? Now, let’s go forward reading our primary Bible text from the Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud.
Jesus First Coming as Messiah!
Isaiah 11:1-3 (KJV)
1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
We have but scratched around on the surface of these first three verses and will now deal briefly with the (b) portion of the third verse concerning judging. We are told that the coming (at that time, now has come) Messiah will not judge by outward appearances nor reprove based on solely what He hears. The word judge here means to pronounce a sentence. This is the type of judging that we are strictly commanded not to do. The word reprove has to do with correcting based solely on what was heard, and we must follow this example as well. What is missing here is knowing the heart of the person doing and or saying. Now, let’s fast forward to the Words of Jesus Himself.
John 5:30 (KJV)
30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
You see how Jesus put His own thoughts, will, conclusions out of the way sought the thoughts of the Father through the Holy Spirit. God knows the heart; He searches our inner most parts.
Proverbs 20:27 (KJV)
27 The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.
This is a little clearer in The Living Bible.
Proverbs 20:27 (TLB)
27 A man’s conscience is the Lord’s searchlight exposing his hidden motives.
Let’s continue with this judging topic with further Words from the Master.
Matthew 7:1-2 (KJV)
1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
The words used here for judge, judged, and judgment are all the same word meaning to distinguish, decide, by implication to try, condemn, punish, avenge, conclude, condemn, damn, decree, or determine according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. I hope we can all readily conclude we are not able to see the heart of another man unless it is revealed to us supernaturally by our Heavenly Father. Do we want mercy, benefit of the doubt or condemnation? Let us be merciful, and compassionate towards all men. Let us remember the following verse as we go day to day in our lives.
Micah 6:8 (KJV)
8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
