Greetings dear ones and welcome back to this engaging study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. It is not engaging because of me but because this is the Word of God, this is life, this is our life. All else is death. Please take a moment and share this teaching and all others as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. The Truth is desperately needed in the Church and in the world. Have you read my book “Sacred Cows Among the Ekklesia” which touches on a few of the lies sung and told regularly in Church as Truth. Remember to examine all things. Monitor with a fine-tooth Scriptural comb everything you think, say, and hear. This is life and death dear ones.
Now, let’s move into our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud, yes, out loud, you know why. I will continue to move forward into chapter fifty of Isaiah today.
Isaiah 50:4-9 (KJV)
4 The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.
5 The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.
6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
7 For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
8 He is near that justifieth me; who will contend with me? let us stand together: who is mine adversary? let him come near to me.
9 Behold, the Lord GOD will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.
We are now entering a passage of Scripture which is very meaningful to me, what some call a life Scripture. A little history. From the moment I was saved I knew I was called to teach. It seemed natural. I just sort of go into teaching mode when certain topics come up. As a physician I enjoyed teaching the Interns and Residents assigned to me. I enjoyed teaching the patients. I really enjoy teaching, talking the Word of God. In the 2003 – 2009 timeframe there was a Prophetess that would come to our Church and she prophesied over me several times about the presence of wisdom and having the tongue of the learned. After a couple of these prophesies, I researched it and behold it was in the Bible! This precious lady has now gone on to Heaven.
You will notice as we go from verse three of our primary text to verse four that the speaker has changed. This could be the Prophet Isaiah reflecting upon what the Lord has done for him or it could be any of us to whom the Lord has given a tongue of the learned. If you are thinking in terms of gifts of the Spirit this would be in the area of Word of Wisdom, Word of Knowledge, and Prophecy. This would even extend into the Five-Fold Ministry gift of Prophet. We are told to covet the best gifts. However, understand that with any and all gifts but especially the speaking gifts comes a great responsibility and accountability.
James 3:1 (ESV)
1 Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.
It is a great privilege and honor to encourage the weary, we have all been there and the right word in season will quicken our inner man. Some have certain protocols they follow for certain situations but that formula approach is generally fruitless. Let the Holy Spirit guide you to the right Scripture, the right way to phrase it that gives insight and meaning to the listener, the weary one. When we live by the Word of God, we will not tend to grow weary. Outside of the Word is where weariness lives, it is part of the curse. This is what Jesus said about His path.
Matthew 11:28-30 (ESV)
28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
The New Living Translations renders verse twenty-eight as follows.
Matthew 11:28 (NLT)
28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Remember, we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
