Greetings precious saints of God and welcome back to this wonderful Bible Study of the Book of 1st John. Written by the Apostle of love as moved upon by the Holy Spirit. It is said in Church history that of the original Apostles, John is the only one to die a natural peaceful death. One might want to ask why. Please take a moment and share this and all of our teachings as widely as possible to expand our reach with the Truth. If you embrace the mission of this Ministry and are benefiting from the teachings yourself, why in the world would you not share? Also, don’t forget about my books including the latest one.

Think you know about “Love” Godly love? Study and implement this book guided by The Helper and see your relationship with God and others transformed. While there look at my other books which will help enlarge your vision, your revelation if you seek it.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text.
1 John 2:3-8 (KJV)
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
I don’t know about you but verses three and four have caused me to do some introspection. Before we move into verse five, I want to talk for just a moment about the word “commandments”. This is the Greek word transliterated to English as entolē meaning injunction (order, ban, ruling, restriction), an authoritative prescription, a commandment, and/or precept according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. This word is also feminine in gender meaning that there will be productivity either to the negative with disobedience and positive with obedience. I have taken us many times to Deuteronomy 28 many times and so here we go again to show you this in the Word of God.
Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (KJV)
1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
Deuteronomy 28:14-15 (KJV)
14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
We choose, not God, did you choose blessing with our obedience or did we choose cursing with our disobedience. Did that disobedience feel good to the flesh, was it worth it? We choose.
Deuteronomy 30:19-20 (KJV)
19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
Seems like a no brainer. Do I, do you love the Lord with the Truth securely anchored without and our first and only response?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Friday.
By: Dr. David R. Wood, Bible Teacher, and Prophetic Voice
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
