TRUE AND FALSE LEADERS
Greetings dear and precious brothers and sisters in the faith and welcome back to this insightful (beyond what I present, the Holy Spirit will take you further) and empowering study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text from the Book of Isaiah and read it aloud, yes, out loud. If you don’t want to build your faith just look at it reading it silently.
Isaiah 3:12-15 (KJV)
12 As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
13 The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.
14 The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.
15 What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord GOD of hosts.
Last week we left off with verse twelve. God through the Prophet Isaiah is illuminating for the people their current condition, why they are in the mess they are in and it will get worse without repentance. He gives the way of salvation and the way back to safety and abundance which is always true repentance. However, they will not listen and you may be able to hear the frustration in His voice. Believe me dear ones this is exactly the case today in much of the Church. The people of God are being oppressed by immature leaders and those not called to be the head. These false leaders are bringing error into the body of Christ now just as they did in the time of Isaiah and are destroying the true path of righteousness, even scattering the sheep.
John 10:11-13 (KJV)
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
As I mentioned some time back, God’s people run in cycles of true worship to idolatry and back down through Scripture and today we are in an idolatry phase. Read this Jeremiah passage.
Jeremiah 23:1-2 (KJV)
1 Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD.
2 Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD.
If you keep reading in Jeremiah you will see that He was raising up a remnant to lead the people back to righteousness and so He is even this very day. As we look at our leaders and the flock, we ourselves. The fruit and the quality of the fruit is key to discerning true leaders Anointed of God as well as the fruit of the flock. The proof is in the pudding as they say. Jesus said you shall know them by their fruit.
Matthew 7:15-20 (KJV)
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
Perhaps someone out there is saying, “well Dr. Wood we aren’t supposed to judge. If one does their homework, they will find there are two different words translated to the English word judge. One has to do with discerning if something is permissible in righteousness or not and even if legal (spiritually) is doing it going to be profitable. The second word translated as judge has to do with passing judgment or declaring an outcome concerning another person’s fruit. This we are forbidden to do. Judging the matter is fine, judging the person is not.
Lord willing, I will pick up with verse thirteen tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
