WRATH OF THE LORD OF HOSTS
Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this wonderfully empowering study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. The beautiful picture featured today was taken at sunrise here at our home in San Antonio, Texas. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 9:18-21 (KJV)
18 For wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.
19 Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother.
20 And he shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:
21 Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
You see that this passage ends saying that His hand is stretched out still. The last time we saw that it was the Hand of mercy. His Hand remains stretched out to the Church, not the heathen, in America, a Covenant people, for repentance and to stay the ongoing judgment upon us. Yesterday we talked about how destructive evil, sin is in the life of those doing evil. Now, most people who confess to be Christians do not consider themselves evil, for that matter neither do most unsaved persons. However, whatever is not of God, not of the Word of God is evil and makes us evil, wicked, in turn. This is not my idea it is all through Scripture including what we have been studying the last several weeks. Let’s talk just briefly about the “LORD of hosts”. This is none other than the One we call Lord Jesus. He is the commander of Heavens armies (angelic) as well as the armies of kings and priests in the earth we serve Him and His people. Notice this verse found a little later on in Isaiah.
Isaiah 54:5 (KJV)
5 For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.
We see from context that this is the Redeemer who is the Christ, our Lord and Savior Jesus. I have mentioned before the baffling phenomena of people knowing the right and knowing, even experiencing the consequences of their choices and still not repenting. It seems they are in fact incapable of repenting due to their hardness of heart. Not a situation the Lord chose but a situation they chose. It is not the will of God that any should perish.
2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (Bold added)
You will remember that I showed you in Revelation when repentance was still possible and they knew the wrath of the Lamb (Lord of hosts) was being poured out they chose to hide (like Adam) and not repent.
Revelation 6:16 (KJV)
16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
Lord willing, tomorrow I will pick up with Isaiah chapter ten.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, doubt it not, and speak over yourself and your family in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
