AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH
Thursday – February 17, 2022, Adar I – 16
WOE TO THEM THAT DECREE UNRIGHTEOUSNESS
Greetings dear and precious children, sons of the Father, redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb, and made alive by our Helper the Holy Spirit. Welcome back to this powerful study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Before I move forward please take a moment and share these teachings as widely as possible expanding our reach with the gospel, the Truth. The featured picture today is of Donna and me at the County Line here in San Antonio, Texas. Are we listening with the intent to hear with understanding, to believe, and to do?
Matthew 11:15 (KJV)
15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Revelation 3:19-22 (KJV)
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Wow, so much in these preceding verses. Let each one of us ask the Holy Spirit to reveal how this applies to us and what we are to do in obedience. Do we suppose that verses 19 and 20 have anything to do with the overcoming in verse 21? Overcoming sounds like that is where it is at! You and I are a part of the Church (people not buildings) so let us implore the Holy Spirit to help us hear what He is saying to us (to me not to you). We always seem to think that corrections and need to repent applies to the other guy or perhaps even the heathen. If we are there and hear it, it applies to us. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud. If you are thinking it is foolish or embarrassing to read out loud, command the deceiving adversary to get behind you in Jesus name.
Isaiah 10:1-4 (KJV)
1 Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed;
2 To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!
3 And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory?
4 Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
We have talked about this word “woe” before but it is worth reviewing again. I think most of us instinctively have a sense of its meaning and know that we don’t want any. Woe (Wo) is grief, sorrow, misery, heavy calamity, and a curse. See, I told you we didn’t want any of that. Verse one is talking about those who put in place unjust laws, ungodly laws that though they claim will help are oppressive. They can be nothing else, they do not derive from God but are from our adversary, the thief. The government and those who pass these laws with the stated objective to help have put themselves in the place of God and His body in the earth, the Church or which we are individual members. The Church, body of Christ, individually and corporately is to be the arm of salvation spiritually and physically to the poor, the widow, and the fatherless (orphan).
One might be reading this and once again assign responsibility to the heathen and judgment to the heathen in office. That is not so for we have the authority in the earth, and whatever we permit, which includes unrighteous rulers, God (Heaven) will permit and whatever we do not permit, God will not permit. The responsibility falls on us, the Church, corporately and individually. So, verse three is talking to you and me. The word ‘glory’ at the end of verse three is referring to our stuff, our wealth. Suddenly we will be as one of the poor, the widow, and the fatherless. Verse four tells us we will be a prisoner and perhaps slain for His anger is not turned away. Why? No repentance! It is the same today; the Church at large sees no need for repentance in the face of ongoing (and soon to increase) calamity. However, once again in the text and remains so today, His Hand remains outstretched to receive our repentance, forgive, and restore.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Remember, we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.

20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
