AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH

ARE WE STUPID
Greetings friends and partners and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog. We are currently teaching four days a week from the wonderful Bible Book of Isaiah. A Book that tells us much about the coming Messiah (at that time) and the consequences of rebellion against God. We see that God is longsuffering but He is also a God of justice. There are not different consequences for different people, our God is no respecter of persons and He does not change. Before we move forward, please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. Those who share have a very important role in this Ministry and in furthering the Kingdom of God. The featured picture today is another fall scene. Fall is such a wonderful and colorful time in Maine however the main problem is that if you live there, it comes right before winter. If there is one thing, I know with certainty, I really dislike, more like abhor, the cold. There I said it!
A short time ago, in a time with the Lord, understanding we are always with Him and He is always with us, He gave me a very simple idea. When healing comes through one of His sons, we, the son, are like jumper cables. Many of us have had the experience of needing our car to be jumped, the power jumps or flows from one place to another through jumper cables (power conduits). The source of Power is God, who is with us and in us. The recipient of this Power is the person in need of healing with faith in the Source of Power and the jumper cable. The jumper cable, the one through whom the Power will flow, is you and me dear ones. Here is the really important thing, no jumper cable, no transfer of Power. Are we keeping ourselves at the ready for this transfer of Power for the benefit of another, the Kingdom of God? A similar truth is when there is a harvest of whatever from the field, it goes into a storage area, and then is dispersed to one in need. The harvest is God provision (money, other assets, etc.) to us the storage area, and the recipient in need is the one God brings in our path. At this time let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 29:8-12 (TLB)
8 As a hungry man dreams of eating but is still hungry, and as a thirsty man dreams of drinking but is still faint from thirst when he wakes up, so your enemies will dream of victorious conquest, but all to no avail.
9 You are amazed, incredulous? You don’t believe it? Then go ahead and be blind if you must! You are stupid—and not from drinking, either! Stagger, and not from wine!
10 For the Lord has poured out upon you a spirit of deep sleep. He has closed the eyes of your prophets and seers,
11 so all of these future events are a sealed book to them. When you give it to one who can read, he says, “I can’t, for it’s sealed.”
12 When you give it to another, he says, “Sorry, I can’t read.”
We left off yesterday discussing the sin, the recurring sin, the rebellion of Israel, the consequences for them and also the consequences for those who brought devastation upon Gods’ Covenant people. God tells His people through the Prophet Isaiah that these enemies are expecting great victory but no, they are to be swept away.
2 Kings 19:35-36 (KJV)
35 And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.
36 So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.
When the Lord gets involved in our situations, He is involved and many times it cannot be questioned by anyone. Sometimes we are like this people, when the Hand of God moves on our behalf, we don’t believe it. Can’t you tell reading verse nine that the Lord gets a little frustrated with His people. He, the Lord, comes right out and calls them stupid. He has already noted that they are blind by choice, that in and of itself is stupid (ill-advised). Sometimes we pretend to be blind, not to understand, or to act on an erroneous false belief because we just don’t want to do the will of God. Perhaps it will take us away from our favorite god(s) or out of our comfort zone, perhaps both. Don’t be looking all innocent and looking around like you have no idea what I’m talking about.
As we move forward, we see that the Lord pours out the spirit of a deep sleep. What a terrible place to be as children, the people, of God. And, dear ones it is all our choice, we chose these things and then are truly surprised or at least feign surprise when the curse, judgment fall upon us. God is not mocked! As we see in verses eleven and twelve the books of future are sealed even to those who can read, the seers. At least they know it is sealed. In the face of this, God still has a voice, we see that in our text, in this case it is Isaiah, a national Prophet.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
