A WELL OF TRUTH
SO, WHAT ABOUT PROPHECY? – PART TWO

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to A Well of Truth. Today I am going to speak once again about prophecy. I recently, December 2021, published a short book on the topic and the front cover is the featured picture today. This book/booklet can be purchased on Amazon.com and can be located by searching by my name (Dr. David R. Wood). At the end of this teaching, you will see all six books I have published and are available on Amazon as well. Before I move forward, please share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you to expand our reach with the Truth.
A few weeks ago, in prayer as I was meditating on another topic as well as this an interesting thought came to me. Later that morning Donna and I discussed it as well over coffee. Some of you have heard me repeatedly ask about a second witness for any particular idea or verse. The Apostle Paul is the witness that writes with clarity about the Five-Fold Ministry (Ephesians 4:10-12) and the nine Gifts of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:1, 4-10, 1 Corinthians 14:3). Is there another writer that writes about this with clarity not just a dab here and there? So, what do we see predominately starting with Matthew? We see an emphasis on believers. That is not to say the Five-Fold Ministry and nine Gifts of the Spirit are not important but we must guard against giving them undue focus.
Ephesians 4:10-12 (KJV)
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Prophets have not passed away. Notice there is no time-stamp on this passage of Scripture. Also, notice the purpose of the Five-Fold Ministers is for the “perfecting of the saints”. The perfecting is their maturing in the body of Christ. There is a great confusion in the body of Christ and in the leadership of the body of Christ concerning those with the gift of prophecy and those in the office of Prophet. Those in the office of prophet are those spoken of in our Ephesians passage. They are appointed of God, not man, through the agency of other prophets and teachers.
Acts 13:1-4 (KJV)
1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.
Do we have the cart before the horse today? I know some of this is seriously challenging established tradition. Perhaps that tradition is the basis for no power, rendering the Word of God ineffectual in many Churches today. Now, let’s shift gears a tad before finishing and look at prophecy as one of the nine Gifts of the Spirit (of God). I will pick up with the following Scriptures next week, in the meantime meditate and let the Holy Spirit shed light in our hearts.
1 Corinthians 12:1 (KJV)
1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
1 Corinthians 12:4-10 (KJV)
4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
1 Corinthians 14:3 (KJV)
3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.

PRAYERS AND QUESTIONS – please contact us and we will respond. Our goal is to build a solid foundation upon which children of God can become sons of God, stand and do exploits in Jesus’ name.
PARTNERSHIP AND GIVING – Those of you who are not Partners of this Ministry and you find this ministry to be of value to you and perhaps others with whom you share it, we ask you to consider becoming Partners. A Partner is one who prays for the Ministry on a regular basis and contributes to the Ministry on a regular basis (monthly, quarterly, annually). Thank you and may the Lord be pleased with your decision.
