Greetings dear and precious saints of God, my brothers and sister in Christ Jesus. Welcome back to this engaging, empowering, and revelatory study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. The featured picture today is a fall scene featuring an old abandoned chicken barn in Maine. Many of these have been converted to other uses which is good to see.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 45:20-22 (KJV)
20 Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save.
21 Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.
22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
God through His Prophet Isaiah is commanding the remnant of His people to gather together for the purpose of submitting to Him. A certain fraction of Gods’ people has escaped the bondage of their enemies. God calls those who worship idol ignorant. See the New International Version of this verse.

20 “Gather together and come; assemble, you fugitives from the nations. Ignorant are those who carry about idols of wood, who pray to gods that cannot save.
How many of Gods’ people today are ignorant and have placed their faith, their trust, in someone, some group, or something which cannot save? The LORD goes on to say they are to bring the ignorant, the idol worshipers and discuss the evidence for the One and Only God. Is there another who has told even from ancient times what would happen and then it happened? Again, and again the LORD tells them that He and He alone is God, there are no other gods, real gods. God declares Himself just meaning that He is righteous and does right at all times. God is the creator the maker of all and He know exactly how it all works. He knows what will give us a life just like His. Yet, they rebelled in that time, time and time again, and so it is today. At the root is the prime sin, pride.
Now, let’s take a look at the word translated “Saviour”. You probably noted that the word is capitalized indicating it is a proper name, a title, or perhaps referring to deity. It is all of that. The Hebrew word finally translated as “Saviour” is yāshaʿ meaning to be open, wide or free, to be safe, to free or succor, avenging, defend, deliver (-er), help, preserve, rescue, be safe, bring (having) salvation, save (-iour), get victory according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Yāshaʿ comes from the root hosanna meaning to save now, help now, or save we pray thee. It became a word of common acclamation (Ps. 118:25), and later a common form of wishing safety and prosperity, Save and prosper, O Lord (Mark 11:9, 10; John 12:13). With the dat. following, “to the Son of David” (Matt. 21:9, 15) according to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – New Testament. Hosanna is familiar to us from what is commonly called the Triumphant Entry into Jerusalem five days before His Crucifixion.
