JUDE – PART THIRTY-FIVE
Video Link: https://youtu.be/zlISIPytUkQ
Greetings dear saints of God and all pre-saints of God and welcome back to this study of the Bible Book of Jude. This Book has to do with holding to the pure Truth. The Truth was being seriously corrupted before the end of the first century AD. That is not to say that the Truths of what we call the Old Testament had not been seriously corrupted by the time Jesus entered the earth. Just look at the ruling religious leaders of the day with a form of godliness, doctrines of demons, and absolutely powerless. Many readers may be saying, not me, not my Church! Are you sure?
PLEASE READ: Please take a moment to share these teachings as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. We see your sharing as valuing the teaching. Also, please hit the appropriate emoji and make a brief comment even if it is only one word. This helps us get the Truth into more hands and hopefully hearts. Thank you! God is so good.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in this wonderful Book of Jude. Be sure you are reading out loud.
Jude 1:10-13 (KJV)
10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.
11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;
13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.
Recall that Jude “the servant of Jesus Christ” and the human author of this wonderful Book is admonishing the first century Church and us to “earnestly contend for the faith”. Jude is in the process of pointing out, really extreme failure to contend for the faith. Remember, no sin occurs full blown, they all start with a thought, like a small wedge that eventually topples a great tree. As we reflect on our text, we can perhaps recall times when we have seen the heathen rage against the Bible, against God, and against Christianity (going on right now). You will find a review of the second Psalm will give further insight. These people raging, rebelling, against God know nothing of God or Scripture. We even find professing Christians pontificating about things about which they know little to nothing or what they know is seriously corrupted. For these we pray.
As we wind down for today, what about “the way of Cain”?
Genesis 4:3-8 (ESV)
3 In the course of time Cain brought to the LORD an offering of the fruit of the ground,
4 and Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat portions. And the LORD had regard for Abel and his offering,
5 but for Cain and his offering he had no regard. So Cain was very angry, and his face fell.
6 The LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why has your face fallen?
7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it.”
8 Cain spoke to Abel his brother. And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him.
As we examine verses 3 and 4 of this text, we can deduct that Cain did not bring his best but Abel did bring his best. Are we bringing our best to God? God warned Cain that his anger and depression was evidence that sin was at the door. God further told him that he must master this sin. As we know he did not.

On a personal note, the picture is of my mom and dad both of which are rejoicing in Heaven. Today would have been their birthdays. Dad born in 1924 would be 100 years old and mom born in 1926 would be 98 years old. I was blessed to grow up in a Christian home, although I didn’t always appreciate it at the time.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. The Lord is good and He cannot lie!
