Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and welcome back to our study of this phenomenal Bible Book of Isaiah. Of course, all of Scripture is phenomenal for its Words are Anointed and have Life. When planted in good soil these Words will bring forth 30, 60, and 100-fold in our lives. Wow, this year is nearly spent, did we spend it well seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness? The featured picture is of the State House in Atlanta Georgia. This is featured to remind us of the importance to pray for all in governmental authority, it is imperative, but praying alone is insufficient. Now, let’s delve (investigate, research, probe, dig) into our primary Bible text from this Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 62:1-5 (NKJV)
1 For Zion’s sake I will not hold My peace, And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, Until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, And her salvation as a lamp that burns.
2 The Gentiles shall see your righteousness, And all kings your glory. You shall be called by a new name, Which the mouth of the LORD will name.
3 You shall also be a crown of glory In the hand of the LORD, And a royal diadem In the hand of your God.
4 You shall no longer be termed Forsaken, Nor shall your land any more be termed Desolate; But you shall be called Hephzibah, and your land Beulah; For the LORD delights in you, And your land shall be married.
5 For as a young man marries a virgin, So shall your sons marry you; And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, So shall your God rejoice over you.
In verse two of our primary Bible test the Father is talking to the One who will come to be known as the Son. Of course, He did not need to speak through the Prophet Isaiah to speak to the Son but this was needed that we all could hear in all generations. Before the coming of the Christ Jesus, we know this same person by other names, the most common were the word and the Lord of Hosts. Jesus was a new name for the second person of the co-equal Trinity. The following passage records the instructions of an angel of the Lord to Joseph.
Matthew 1:21-23 (KJV)
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
This name Jesus is the New Testament equivalent to Joshua of the Old Testament meaning Jehovah-saved according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Notice the tense of Jehovah-saved is past tense, already done.
Revelation 13:8-9 (KJV)
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.
God did not create man to fall but if man chose to fall, which he did, God was not caught flatfooted, He had a redemption plan. In the mind of God Jesus had already gone to the Cross before the making of Adam. With God there is no time or space. God had already been there but He went ahead with creation for He wanted a family, ones like Him, to enjoy what He was and what He had.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
