PROVOKE ME TO MY FACE

Greetings precious saints of God and welcome back to this intriguing and enabling study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. We are such a blessed people to have the Words of God, the thoughts of God to guide our way into all the blessing. Who but our God would know what Words would just as applicable now as then? Who but our God could Anoint all of His Words which when coupled with our faith would bring manifestation? The featured picture is of the State House in Raleigh North Carolina to remind us to pray for all in authority. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text, in you guess it, the Book of Isaiah. Please continue to read out loud, yes, out loud.
Isaiah 65:1-5 (NKJV)
1 “I was sought by those who did not ask for Me; I was found by those who did not seek Me. I said, ‘Here I am, here I am,’ To a nation that was not called by My name.
2 I have stretched out My hands all day long to a rebellious people, Who walk in a way that is not good, According to their own thoughts;
3 A people who provoke Me to anger continually to My face; Who sacrifice in gardens, And burn incense on altars of brick;
4 Who sit among the graves, And spend the night in the tombs; Who eat swine’s flesh, And the broth of abominable things is in their vessels;
5 Who say, ‘Keep to yourself, Do not come near me, For I am holier than you!’ These are smoke in My nostrils, A fire that burns all the day.
Dear ones we must be very intentional to make all of the Word of God our own, examine the Word with all diligence that we not fall in the same manner as many we have gone before us. The flesh is extraordinarily powerful, deceptive, wanting its own way. As each of us look back have there been times we did things, as a Christian, that we now wonder how we let that happen? Are any of us in Gods’ face with sin and don’t realize it. The first generation of Israelites did not enter the Promised Land due to unbelief, what about us. Have we not appropriated the promises of God into our lives due to unbelief?
Hebrews 4:1-3 (KJV)
1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
Have you ever prepared something wonderful for someone and they treated it as common or perhaps rejected it altogether? How did that make you feel? As we move forward God is exposing that they are worshipping any way they want not according to His instructions. Do you remember Jesus’s encounter with the woman at the well?
John 4:20-24 (KJV)
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Notice Jesus did not correct her that worship, specifically the various sacrifices, was to occur in Jerusalem and not wherever one desired. Jesus did go on to point out that the time was coming when that would no longer be true.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
