Greetings precious saints of God, my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, sons of God and welcome back to this uplifting study of 1st John. John the Apostle of love by the unction of the Holy Spirit left us with some wonderful Scripture for our instruction and edification. The Lord is so good. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text for today continuing to read out loud and listening with the intent to understand and do. Ask the Holy Spirit to open your spiritual eyes and ears.
1 John 3:1-3 (KJV)
1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
Dear ones did you read verse two really carefully? Did you see and hear that we are NOW sons of God. We are not waiting until the sweet bye and bye but now all things are ours, we are citizens of the Kingdom, we are priests of our God, and kings of the Kingdom. As we are all too aware we are not now in our final form, that is we await our glorified bodies.
Romans 8:23 (KJV)
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
We are assured not only of an upgrade in our physical body but it will be just like the one Jesus had at the Resurrection and will have forevermore. We got a glimpse of the Resurrected Jesus both in the gospel and in the Revelation. Many over the years have had visitations from the Master and most of those that I have heard were not at all like John describes in the Revelation.
Revelation 1:12-16 (KJV)
12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
It seems to me that this view was with more than with natural eyes seeing all of the majesty of Jesus as God and Jesus as a man. Perhaps this is what the Apostle John is alluding to with the phrase “we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is”. Now in the earth on His Resurrection Day being every bit as much God and man as now He did not have this appearance through the natural eyes of the disciples.
John 20:19-20 (KJV)
19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Friday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
