SPEAK TO THE MOUNTAIN

Greetings precious children of God and welcome back to this engaging, instructive, empowering study of the Book of First John. As I am sure you know, we are nearing the end of this particular Book. As you know the Apostle John, the Apostle of love wrote (by the unction of the Holy Spirit) the Gospel of John, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd John (collectively called the little Johns), and the Book of Revelation. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text for today.
1 John 5:14-18 (KJV)
14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
The word “confidence” in verse 14 is more commonly translated as boldness with the idea of a bold pouring forth, not passive word at all. That confidence, that boldness that we have is in Him. Him being the Lord Jesus Christ, the One who has given us eternal life, the Son of God. More specifically the name, Jesus, as we were told in verse thirteen. We have been given the name of Jesus to use according to the will of God on Kingdom business, it is a Power of Attorney. We must have confidence in the person to have confidence in the name of the person. The word “heareth” in this 14th verse is a legal term. God hears everything like you or I may hear everything going on in a room but only certain things will command our attention or will we give our attention to. He pays no attention to things that are not His will or are said in an inappropriate way, with a wrong heart, not in faith, not undergirded by love, and not led of the Holy Spirit.
Wow, verse fifteen is a take to the bank promise. Here again there are Kingdom laws and protocols for the manifestation of anything in the Kingdom. Does knowing that we have the petitions we desired of Him mean the thing is in manifestation. No, it does not. It is a little bit like ordering from Amazon, we claim the item as ours but it has not yet arrived. We received the promise of God by faith, in love, because we have confidence in the Persons of God and in His name. We are one with Jesus, the Father, and the Holy Spirit. Whatever God owns, we own, which is everything, and whatever the circumstances of God are, are to be our circumstances in this world. Let’s remind ourselves of the following oft quoted verses.
Mark 11:23-24 (KJV)
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Where are the limitations?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Friday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
