THE PRECIOUS TRAIL OF BLOOD – PART TWO
Sunday – October 27, 2019, Tishrei 28, 5780
Greetings my precious brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. Welcome and thank you for rejoining this new Sunday series titled “Gifts”. It is going to be wonderful to look at all the gifts that God has placed in our lives even before salvation. If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment to hit the “love” and “share” buttons to give us feedback and to expand the reach of this Ministry. The curse is designed to kill us right now but God’s gift of mercy preserved us until we saw the Light and received Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior. The gifts extended and operative in our lives before salvation come due to the mercy of God and the intercession of the saints. Once we are saved, we must be proactive to receive the gift, open it, and mature in the gift for our own enjoyment and protection. In addition, many of the gifts need to be developed which is our choice but comes with all the necessary tools to do so. All of this brings and keeps us closer to God, shows the glory of God, and ultimately works to enlarge the Kingdom of God. God is so good.
Last week I started a conversation about the gift of salvation and we looked at various definitions and recognize that until we have this gift, we don’t have any of the others. Salvation is like the locomotive that pulls the train and the cars behind are the various gifts but none are active without an active locomotive. We could also look at it like the light switch on the wall. Until we activate the light switch none of the things connected are activated but sit dead and idle. When the light switch is activated, our naming Jesus as Lord and Savior and believing the Father raised Him from the dead, sends the Power of the Holy Spirit with all the potential of God into everything God designed us to be and do. Our potential is not to be underestimated for we have been created in the image and likeness of the co-equal triune God. We do not now have, but will shortly receive, a body like unto that which Jesus has today which is immortal, eternal. Our potential is the same as God’s in Christ Jesus subject to our faith, our love, and the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
I am sure you have noticed this particular part of our study is subtitled “The Precious Trail of Blood”. The trail of Blood that culminated with the Blood of the Lamb starts as you might suspect in the Garden of Eden on the Day of Sin and Death. As you may recall God had created the heavens and the earth. On the earth He created Eden and within Eden was a Garden and He placed the first man in that Garden. This Garden of Eden was a spiritual and physical duplicate of Heaven the abode of God. Except that this Garden had a physical component it was exactly the same as Heaven. What kind of a father with unlimited capacity would put his son in a dump while he lived in an ultra-luxurious mansion? I hope you got the right answer not the religious answer, no sane loving father would do that and neither did our Heavenly Father. In fact, if we snuggle right up next to our Heavenly Father in Christ Jesus our life here in the earth will mirror that of Jesus (no shortage of money or lack of health) and should be very close to what we see when we arrive in Heaven. The mansion that awaits us in Heaven is glorious and nothing in the earth can come even close due to the degradation (humiliation) of all things due to the curse. However, our homes and so on in the earth should be the very best possible in this cursed planet.
God gave Adam the command not to partake of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Genesis 2:15-17 (KJV)
15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
That command was not just for Adam but comes down through 6000 plus years to us today. They (Adam and Eve) did eventually violate (sin) that command and the curse came flooding into their lives. Unfortunately, the curse flooded into all created things even Heaven itself. When we wonder why there is so much of the curse in our life, let’s remind ourselves to go back and read from the beginning of this paragraph and the following. Choosing pure evil is certainly bad and I think all could agree with that. However, the outcome of choosing pure evil or choosing evil mixed with good brings the same result.
Genesis 3:6 (KJV)
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
The woman (Eve) was deceived by the Serpent. She had received transmitted (from Adam) knowledge concerning the command not to partake of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Adam had heard the command face to face from the mouth of God Himself (likely the second person of the co-equal Triune God, now called Jesus [then the Word]). Doing wrong as the result of deception does not totally protect us from the consequences of sin, it is still sin, but does convey a degree of mercy. Eve did not have the same light on this that Adam had, the deception brought darkness diminishing the light but she did violate the light she had. It would seem that she had not developed faith in the Word of God transmitted to her (we have the Bible) and did not trust God, and was not walking in love with regard to God. Adam on the other hand in spite of his relationship with God to this point placed the leadership of his wife above God, above the Word of God. What a tragic mistake!

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
