ALL THE BIBLE IS TRUE BUT NOT ALL IS THE TRUTH

Greetings to all and welcome back to our study of the Bible Book of 2nd John. We missed last week due to a special 4th of July teaching on Covenant Nations. I often refer to the Apostle John as the Apostle of love, it is all through the gospel of John as well as his three epistles. It is love, divine level love, that brought redemption to all who will receive it, and love of God is what will take us to Heaven. This is the love (agapē/ agapaō) that only God (three persons) and His children can manifest, walk in. This love is manifest by obedience to the Word of God, living a selfless lifestyle, and abiding in Blood Covenant with God. This love emanates from our will based upon our knowledge of this love. This love is not emotion based but emotions may be expressed secondarily. Now, let’s dive into our primary text in 2nd John.
2 John 1:1-3 (KJV)
1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;
2 For the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.
3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
I will pick up with verse two today and the phrase “for the truth’s sake”. We have discovered and confirmed that the Truth is the Word of God.
John 17:17 (KJV)
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
All of the Bible is true, but not all that is recorded is the Truth. Many people speak in the Bible, and it is true they said what is recorded but it is not the Truth. It is important that we know who is talking and to whom they are talking. We have established that Jesus is the Truth and therefore synonymous with the Word.
John 14:6 (KJV)
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Now to bring this together let’s consider this.
John 1:1 (KJV)
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14 (KJV)
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
We know from context that Jesus is the Word. He is the One who was made flesh and dwelt among us. The Truth, the Word, and Jesus are synonymous with each other. Back to our 2nd John 1:2 text we can then say that we love others for the sake of Jesus. He loves us and He loves them so what argument might we possibly have not to love others? If you can think of a human being Jesus (God) does not love, then we don’t need to love them either. If Jesus could forgive and even intercede for those who put Him on the Cross what is our excuse?
TAKE HOME:
