JESUS CHRIST IS COME IN THE FLESH

Welcome to Awake, Arise, and Triumph Ministries and this ongoing study of 2nd John. What a book so rich with Truth from Heaven through this Apostle of love. Without further ado let’s plunge into our golden text.
2 John 1:7-9 (KJV)
7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
As you will recall we left off last Friday talking about antichrist. The Apostle makes it clear that there are many antichrists and it seems to me they have been present in one form or another since the fall. These antichrists are deceivers according to the Apostle. It seems to me that some are willful deceivers for self-aggrandizement and others are themselves deceived believing what they are teaching. Now, let me be clear, it is not that they never knew the Truth, they once knew the Truth but rejected the Truth becoming fools.
Romans 1:20-22 (KJV)
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
In the final judgement no one will be able to say they did not have an opportunity to know and serve God. Looking back at verse seven of our golden text we find those who deny that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. As I pointed out many believe that Jesus was a real person, historical figure, in the earth but deny that He was the Christ, the Anointed Messiah or that He was flesh and blood like us.
This brings us to a little bit of a complex issue. That is that Jesus Christ came in the flesh like other men, human form. It is clear from Scripture that Jesus functioned as a man, a human being in the earth, just as we do. The Apostle Paul by revelation tells us in Philippians 2:7-8 that He emptied Himself of all that made Him God. We see elsewhere that growing up “Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man” (Luke 2:52). If Jesus did not operate in the earth as a man, then His commands for us to do as He did would be very cruel and unjust. If He had an ace in His back pocket to pull out that would be unjust. He had to walk by faith in love led by the Holy Spirit just like we are today.
Let’s break this down a little further for our understanding. We and Jesus are three-part beings, spirit, soul, and body. We know that Jesus had a physical human body (Hebrews 10:5) just like us. We know He had a soul (mind, will, emotions, intellect) as indicated by the Luke 2:52 verse and many other places. He did not come with the memories of eternity. He had to learn from the Scriptures and revelation who He was and His assignment, the Cross. This brings us to the spirit part of Jesus. Was the spirit that entered the human body in the uterus of Mary the same one that was with the Father from eternity past? Yes, but with some significant modifications. He divested Himself of all that made Him God coming to earth. He was no longer omniscient, omnipotent, or omnipresent. That was all restored at the Cross and all that followed (read the first chapter of Hebrews).
TAKE HOME:
- The Apostle makes it clear that there are many antichrists and it seems to me they have been present in one form or another since the fall.
- Many believe that Jesus was a real person, historical figure, in the earth but deny that He was the Christ, the Anointed Messiah or that He was flesh and blood like us.
- The spirit of Jesus upon coming to earth was the same one as in eternity past divested of omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence. His soul did not have the memories of eternity past; He had to learn as we do. His body was of the earth and probably like Adams.
