FIRST BLOOD

This is day three of our new Bible Study series extracted from my book “Awake, Arise, and Triumph – Book II – God’s Road to Redemption”. We will be studying chapter six which is titled “Blood Line – Trail of Blood”. As mentioned before, I am hoping to have a digitalized downloadable version of the book available soon (e-book). For those who like to read on their computers or other devices it will be inexpensive access to a rather lengthy book (464 pages). Now, to our study of the Blood.
Even on that awful day of Sin and Death, ʾElōhîm in His goodness and mercy had a plan to once again cloth Îsh (the Man), Ishshâ (the Woman), and all of mankind with His very own righteousness. The trail of blood starts here and marches inexorably to the Cross.
Genesis 3:21 (KJV)
21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
This means that willing, innocent, unblemished blood was shed for the Man and the Woman; just as the coming Messiah would be willing, innocent, and unblemished. The coming Messiah would shed blood once for all, for all mankind. The animals were not afraid of man until after the flood, so this animal would have willingly submitted to death for Îsh (Adam the man) and Ishshâ (Eve the woman). Just think how horrific sin really is, the price extracted. The death of an animal is a small thing compared with a person; however, the blood of animals is so precious to God that He allowed it as atonement for man’s sin on an annual basis.
Many of you have pets or other animals that trust you. Can you imagine bringing them to the sacrificial alter and having to kill them there to provide atonement for your sins of the last year. Can you imagine the thousands upon thousands, perhaps even millions of animals that were sacrificed in Israel? In addition, consider all the uses of animals over the years for clothing, food, transportation, and medicine. All of this happened because of sin. This is just one small area, not to mention the toll on mankind in sickness, disease, poverty, and multiplied millions gone to hell for eternity. Consider the necessity that the second person of God had to set aside all that made Him God to die for us. He came into this earth, was rejected, scorned, beaten, then willingly surrendering to spiritual death and then physical death. O what a Savior! This was done to purchase the everlasting redemption that we enjoy today. He went to hell, winning the victory over death and hell. Can we even begin to imagine the extent and depth of all this? But praises to God, Love did it all! Remember this the next time you are tempted to compromise (slap the Saviors face) with the world, the devil.
As we move further into this discussion of Blood Covenant, I want to point out a couple of foundational facts. We will then move forward from the sin in the garden toward the final solution – redemption at Calvary. First, let us look at the following verse.
Leviticus 17:11 (KJV)
11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.[2]
When you analyze this verse, first you find that the word life is the Hebrew word nepesh;[2] which is a word that encompasses the part that God breathed into man, and man became a living soul (Genesis 2:7). In other words, it is our soul (mind, will, emotions) and the spirit man. When man sinned, the spirit man died immediately, the soul was contaminated with many things, and the body began to deteriorate, absent the tree of life and a contaminated thought life and speech. Adam lived some nine hundred and thirty years after sin. The whole person before sin was in total union with the three persons of God and those lived like God. There can be no sin in God (James 1:17); therefore, when man sinned separation occurred immediately.
The man had bowed his knee to Satan and now Satan is man’s lord (Romans 6:16). Mankind is dead to the things of God in his spirit; he has become soul and flesh oriented. He takes the nature of his father, Satan, filled with rebellion due to selfishness (pride and jealousy). Love Himself is departed from what was previously an intimate relationship/fellowship with mankind. Now there was a gulf between God and man that could not be bridged but One is coming to build that bridge. Love, the God kind of love, is selflessness; but now man, like Satan, is consumed with selfishness. Obedience to the Word of God and abundance of life is replaced with rebellion and death.
TAKE HOME:
- The robe of righteousness is gone for a season, and the blood of innocent animals has taken its place, but Eternal Blood and an everlasting Robe of Righteousness is on the way.
- Sin, bowing to Satan, gives Satan a place in our life, he is for that season before repentance our lord.
- The blood shed in the Garden until Calvary only covered until the Blood of Christ could come and restore mankind and more.
