NO TASTE OF DEATH

Greetings and welcome back to our ongoing study of The Kingdom of God, what a journey. Perhaps you noticed the picture associated with this teaching of an illuminated person in the midst of those who are not illuminated. The illumination is God, God in us and on us. It goes with the Ministry Scripture at the top. The time for simply talking “Church” is long past, it is time to be the functioning body of Christ.
Isaiah 60:1 (KJV)
1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
Let’s go to our anchor Scripture for this study then move forward.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Salvation and entry into Kingdom citizenship is by one name and one name only which is Jesus, the Christ. We did not earn or do any work or works to earn salvation, but Jesus did. He took our sin and gave us freely His righteousness, right standing with the Father. O my! The purposes of the Kingdom of God are our purposes 24/7. A kingdom has a leader, a King. In this case our King is Jesus, the King of kings and we are the kings under Him. ALL else is under us so long as we stay in Him in knowledge exercise our delegated authority. Our authority is exactly the same authority Jesus has which is all authority. I know it is hard to take in but until we do, we cannot operate as the body is designed to work. In addition to being sons, priests, and kings, we are ambassadors representing Heaven in the earth. We are to live like Heaven; the glory is to manifest in and through us.
Now to the next thing Jesus said about the Kingdom in our study.
Luke 9:26-31 (NKJV)
26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.
27 “But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God.”
28 Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray.
29 As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening.
30 And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah,
31 who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.
There is a lot here and I won’t get it all today or perhaps any day soon. We know in part the Word tells us. The first verse of this text doesn’t say that one who is ashamed isn’t going to Heaven, but it is clear that neither will they have an honored seat. This is just before the Cross and these disciples scatter like rats at the dump (most younger readers won’t have a clue – email me) and Peter is clearly ashamed. Then Jesus seemingly shifts following the conjunctive “but” to speaking of death. When we looked at this through the eyes of Mark, we pondered this tasting of death and the seeing of the Kingdom of God.
Mark 9:1 (KJV)
1 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
The key is in the phrase “come with power” which is dynamis miracle working power according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. This occurred on the Day of Pentecost with the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and they were endued with Power. The Kingdom of God came on Resurrection Day; His Power came available to all on the Day of Pentecost.
TAKE HOME:
- Light has come and glory of the Lord is upon us.
- We are kings operating in the earth with the full authority of Heaven under the leadership of Christ.
- In Christ Jesus we shall never taste of death.
