PREACHING AND POWER

Greetings and welcome back to our ongoing study of The Kingdom of God, what a journey. Perhaps you noticed the picture associated with this teaching of an illuminated person in the midst of those who are not illuminated. The illumination is God, God in us and on us. It goes with the Ministry Scripture at the top. The time for simply talking “Church” is long past, it is time to be the functioning body of Christ.
Isaiah 60:1 (KJV)
1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
Let’s go to our anchor Scripture for this study then move forward.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
This is our primary mandate. The ways of the Kingdom are to become our ways. We are not to be vacillating in and out of His ways and our old ways. If it is not His way it is either our way or more likely the way of Satan. Notice here that taking care of Kingdom business (our life is Kingdom business), focused on the spirit realm, the ways of Heaven, yields a harvest in the natural realm. Now let’s revisit the text we were studying yesterday.
Luke 9:26-31 (NKJV)
26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.
27 “But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God.”
28 Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray.
29 As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening.
30 And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah,
31 who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.
I noted yesterday this is not long before the crucifixion when they will run in fear, in shame, going into hiding not standing by Him at the Cross with the exception of John. We are given great details concerning Peter, but I suspect there are similar accounts concerning the others. Interestingly the women were at the Cross. I established yesterday that established that Jesus is talking about the Day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came enduing those who received with Power, wonder working Power.
Acts 1:8 (KJV)
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
It is obvious that I am not going to complete this passage today so I’m going to take us on a brief side trip. We hear often that Jesus will come back, speaking of the Rapture, when the gospel has been preached in all the earth. Let me point out something you may or may not find interesting. Take the preceding verse and the following verse and consider them together.
Matthew 24:14 (KJV)
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
The sign of His return is not when the gospel has been preached in all the earth but when it has not only been preached but demonstrated (as in the Ministry of Jesus). Preaching is not the full witness. When it looks like Jesus in every town in every nation the eastern sky is about to burst open, and we will join Him in the air.
TAKE HOME:
- Is the glory (goodness) of God manifest in you, on you, around you, and flowing through you?
- Are we seeking every day to make all that we do to show Him, show His goodness, His ways, His purposes?
- We must have not only a preaching of the Truth but bonafide demonstrations of the Truth.
