LIFE – ETERNAL LIFE OF THE FLESH IS IN THE BLOOD

Welcome back to the trail of blood that started in Heaven and ends in Heaven. Jesus is the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world and with His Resurrection He took His very own Blood to the Mercy Seat of Heaven. In the mind, the reality of God, existence without time, the Redemption had already occurred when He breathed of Himself into the body of Adam. I will continue teaching today from my book, Awake, Arise, and Triumph, Book II, God’s Road to Redemption, chapter six. I concluded yesterday by talking about Noah and the Blood Covenant leading to the Cross and beyond, so that is where we will pick up today.
At this same time following the flood of Noah, we are given further insight into the blood covenant and the coming Messiah.
Genesis 9:4-6 (KJV)
4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
5 And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man.
6 Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
We see the Word of God here concerning capital punishment. Verse four above is again telling us as does Leviticus 17:11 that the life, the preservation of the spirit and soul, is the message of the blood. The message of the blood is that Jesus saves! Saves us from wrath, from Hell. Cleanses us putting us in right standing with God and we walk in the purity of Jesus. Note that blood is part of the flesh and the shedding of blood redeems sinful flesh making it righteous.

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
Sin in the flesh is the result of a corrupted soul (mind, will, emotions, intellect). Our spirit man has two major components, the soul and the spirit. The soul is made clean by the Word of God. The more Word of God we know, receive, believe the more union there is with our spirit and the Holy Spirit and the more manifestation of God in our lives. The spirit man at salvation is resurrected to newness of life and is pure in one spirit with the Holy Spirit.
God instructs us not to eat the blood, for it is representative of the precious blood of Jesus, it makes it common, a food. Our blood, and the blood of animals, is a type of His blood; and is to be held in the very highest regard. Eating a physical thing is for the physical body, but the blood of Jesus is for the redemption of our body, and Word is for our soul. The blood of animals made atonement a temporary covering of sin. But praise the Lord, the blood of Jesus bought full redemption – remission of sin forever.
To drink the blood for our physical body’s sake is an abomination to God. The blood of animals and man is representative of, a type and shadow of the blood of Jesus. Blood was shed for the sin of man from the garden; first the blood of animals being surrogate blood, then the blood of Jesus, Immanuel, God with us. Above, in verse six, we find God’s opinion about capital punishment; but I believe we find something else as well. What about the phrase, “For in the image of God made he man.” Since we are made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26), to kill (murder) another person is like killing God. It’s like spilling the Son’s blood all over again. Murder is of the devil and an abomination to God. I have heard it said that only our spirit man is in the likeness and image of God. That is not so, we are in the likeness and image of Christ with a physical body like unto His.
The Scripture here in Genesis chapter nine is referring to the coming of the pure blood of Jesus. Jesus came and was made sin for us (2 Corinthians 5:21), shed His innocent blood, and bought redemption for all of mankind. Jesus was unjustly killed by Satan; God placed all sin on Him as a sacrifice, as the way of reconciling mankind to Himself (Romans 5:1). By that innocent blood and the Words of His mouth, He defeated the devil and all his cohorts (Revelation 12:11).
Genesis 9:7-9 (KJV)
7 And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.
8 And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,
9 And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;
“And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying, And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you.” This word “seed” in verse nine is singular. It is referring to Jesus. It follows immediately after discussion of the blood; the blood that He would ultimately shed at Calvary’s Tree to pay for the final redemption of man. Oh, thank you Jesus!
TAKE HOME:
- When Noah and his sons came off the Ark they immediately acknowledged and continued the Blood Covenant initiated in the Garden on that awful day and would ultimately bring the Seed.
- Jesus took our sin on the Cross and gave us His righteousness. We stand before the Father in His righteousness. As He is before the Father in Heaven so are we in this world.
- The Covenant we see with the Seed in Genesis 9:9 started before the foundation of the world and culminates on Mount Moriah.
